Senior Presentation Designer, 6-month contract-to-hire

About GhostRanch Communications

GhostRanch Communications is a strategic presentation and storytelling agency. We help the world’s most ambitious B2B marketing leaders, executives, and founders communicate what they’re building and why it matters. We don't do template-filling or basic pixel-pushing. Every deck, narrative, and asset we produce carries a point of view, strategic intent, and a standard of craft that sets the benchmark in our industry.

Description

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Designer who is equal parts visual strategist, master of craft, and high-velocity creator. You are the designer who makes people in the room stop and take notice—not just because the work looks incredible, but because every design choice is anchored in strategy.

In this role, you will lead the conceptualization and execution of visual storytelling projects across presentation systems, digital assets, and brand communications. You are a problem solver who moves fast without compromising quality, comfortable taking projects from vague briefs to pristine execution. Crucially, you are meticulous about fit and finish: from the first concept sketch to the final deliverable, your adherence to core design principles is best-in-class.

Tactical Responsibilities

  • Meticulous Craft & Finish: Maintain uncompromising standards of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy across every iteration—ensuring first-round deliverables carry the same polish as final assets.
  • Creative & Client Team Coordination: Partner with Studio Creative Leadership to push for best-in-class output, while working alongside Client teams to help the studio navigate project dynamics and deliver optimal results.
  • Post-Project Growth: Think bigger than a single deliverable. When a project wraps, work with the team to gather actionable learnings and actively identify opportunities for expanded future partnerships.
  • Live Collaboration: Conduct real-time design sessions—putting rough ideas together on screen for fast feedback and buy-in from internal teams and clients.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Ask the right questions to catch every client nuance, address unstated needs, and translate complex B2B narrative challenges into compelling visual solutions.
  • Proactive Communication: Maintain responsive written and verbal updates across all channels, eliminating "radio silence" and keeping project momentum high.
  • Mentorship: Provide artistic direction and coaching to junior designers, nurturing their growth and fostering an environment of creative excellence.
  • Business Development: Support new business efforts by contributing to client pitches and strategic proposals.

What You Bring

  • Experience: 5–10 years of professional design experience, with at least 2 years in a Senior Designer role (agency experience strongly preferred).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or equivalent real-world experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides.
  • Speed & Craft Balance: Proven ability to balance high-level visual design with project scope, commercial velocity, and tight deadlines.
  • Communication & Leadership: Exceptional verbal and written presentation skills with the confidence to articulate design rationale clearly to client partners and mentor junior designers.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills across multiple simultaneous workflows.

How You Show Up & Win

To truly stand out in this process, you need to show us more than just pretty visuals. We want to see how you think and how you solve problems. When you apply, please include:

  • A World-Class Portfolio: A link to your work demonstrating undeniable craft, meticulous fit and finish, and a high standard of design excellence.

  • The "Complex-to-Clear" Example: Please do not create anything new for this. Simply point us to an existing project, presentation, or provide a quick recap with examples highlighting a time you took a highly complex, dense, or ambiguous concept and successfully distilled it into a clear, market-ready communication package. Show us the problem, your strategic approach, and the final visual execution.

Employment Type: 6-month contract-to-hire. This gives both sides a chance to make sure it's the right fit, and we often extend a full-time offer before the contract term is up.

Hours: 40 hours per week.

Location: Fully remote. We have a preference for candidates based in Pacific or Mountain time zones, though not a dealbreaker for the right candidate.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk working on a computer.
