In this role you will design, implement, and integrate embedded software that runs on target hardware in a real-time environment. You will work in C++11 alongside systems, hardware, and test engineers to take capabilities from requirements through integration and formal verification. This is hands-on work, expect to spend real time in the lab with the hardware, not just in the IDE.
Schedule: full-time schedule.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software in C++11 for real-time systems supporting EW and RF applications.
- Integrate and debug software on target hardware, working directly with processors, interfaces, and lab test equipment.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and regression tests, and troubleshoot issues down to the hardware/software boundary.
- Build and maintain scripts and tooling (Python, batch, and similar) to automate builds, test execution, and data reduction.
- Translate system and software requirements into designs, and document interfaces, design decisions, and test results.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and peer design reviews as a contributing member of a software team.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, and test engineering to resolve integration issues and support formal verification events.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and help improve team development, build, and test practices.
Basic Qualifications
- STEM degree.
- Experience with object-oriented programming in C++11.
- Experience testing, debugging, and integrating embedded software on target hardware using a real-time operating system.
- Active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience testing, debugging, and integrating embedded software on target hardware using VxWorks.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages (Python, batch, and similar).
- Experience with software development methodologies and frameworks such as Agile in a team environment.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork capability, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
