Description

Purpose

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, managing AR, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and medical device industry expectations. This role partners closely with operations, supply chain, and leadership to support cost accounting, inventory controls, and financial reporting within a regulated manufacturing environment.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with experience in manufacturing and inventory-driven businesses, preferably within medical device, life sciences, or other regulated industries.

Duties and responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Close

  • Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports

Cost Accounting & Inventory

  • Manage inventory accounting, including:
  • Standard cost maintenance and updates
  • Variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, PPV)
  • WIP and finished goods valuation
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure:
  • Accurate BOM costing
  • Cycle count and physical inventory reconciliation
  • Proper capitalization of manufacturing costs

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Support internal control environment and audit readiness
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist with external audits, tax filings, and regulatory or financial reviews
  • Maintain appropriate documentation supporting financial transactions

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
  • Analyze financial performance versus budget and prior periods
  • Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts
  • Record day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting system
  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP): vendor invoices, expense verification, payment processing, and reconciliations
  • Manage Accounts Receivable (AR): invoicing, collections, customer account reconciliation, and aging analysis
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger
  • Monitor expenses, revenues, and financial performance
  • Provide insights into gross margin, operating expenses, and key cost drivers
  • Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and ad-hoc analyses
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality teams
  • Support ERP accuracy and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide financial guidance to leadership as needed


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience

  • 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience in manufacturing or inventory-based environments
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial analysis)
  • Experience using ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar)

Preferred Experience:

  • CPA or CFA designation (CPA strongly preferred; CFA considered with strong accounting background)
  • Medical device, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing experience
  • Cost accounting and standard costing expertise
  • Public accounting or audit background
  • Experience supporting company growth, scale-up, or operational transformation

Salary
