About the Role
GC Support LLC is a Nashville-based traffic control company serving utility, construction, and roadwork clients across Middle Tennessee. We’re looking for a Working Traffic Control Supervisor to lead our field operations — someone who can flag a lane closure in the morning and dispatch a crew by afternoon. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a desk job. You’ll be the face of GC Support in the field, the point of contact for our clients on-site, and the person our crew looks to for direction, training, and accountability.
This role is ideal for an experienced flagger or TCS who’s ready to step into a supervisory position, or a current supervisor looking for ownership-track opportunity at a growing company.
What You’ll Do
Field Operations
- Set up and manage work zone traffic control in compliance with the MUTCD and Tennessee DOT standards
- Flag and operate traffic control devices (signs, cones, arrow boards, barricades) alongside the crew
- Conduct daily site inspections and ensure proper setup before work begins
- Monitor and adjust traffic control plans based on changing road and weather conditions
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, contractors, and utility crews
- Respond to and resolve field issues — equipment failures, traffic conflicts, safety concerns — in real time
Crew Management
- Supervise a crew of 2–6 flaggers and traffic control technicians on active job sites
- Onboard new crew members: safety orientation, equipment training, company standards
- Conduct daily safety briefings and enforce PPE and work zone safety compliance
- Handle scheduling, no-shows, and crew changes — step in and flag when needed
- Provide real-time coaching and performance feedback in the field
- Document crew hours, job completion, and any incidents or near-misses
Operations Support
- Coordinate daily job assignments and dispatch with ownership
- Ensure trucks, arrow boards, and equipment are maintained, fueled, and job-ready
- Complete daily job reports, time tracking, and client sign-offs
- Manage inventory of traffic control devices and flag supply needs before they become problems
- Communicate proactively with ownership about job status, client feedback, and crew performance
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 2+ years of experience in traffic control, road construction, or utility work zone operations
- ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Valid Tennessee driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to set up and manage a work zone independently, including reading and executing traffic control plans
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, standing for extended periods, and lifting 50+ lbs
- Reliable — this role requires showing up every day, on time, ready to work
- Strong communication skills with crew, clients, and contractors
Preferred
- Experience supervising field crews in traffic control or construction
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- CDL or ability to operate trucks with mounted arrow boards and attenuators
- Familiarity with TDOT work zone standards and permitting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
