Gastroenterology of the Rockies is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Remote Medical Coder to join our team. The Remote Medical Coder will be responsible for accurately coding medical records in accordance with coding regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with payer requirements and maximizing reimbursement for the practice.

Pay range: The pay range for this position is $32.00–$44.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Most candidates are hired near the midpoint of the range.

Reports to: Coding Manager

Location: Administrative Building (Louisville) – Hybrid/Remote after Training

REMOTE REQUIREMENTS:

·        Internet minimum recommendation:

o  20Mb/s down, 10Mb/s up, less than 10ms latency. Comcast offers up to 1000Mb/s down, 40Mb/s up, less than 5ms latency.

·        Computer:

o  Windows 10 or 11 with i5 processor or better, 8GB+ RAM or better, 1920x1080 resolution screen, ability to run an extra monitor if you wish.

o  Gotchas: 4K(3840x2160) may be too small of a font for some of the applications. You will have to play with your settings to read some parts of Intergy.

o  Mac with Sequoia OS or newer.

o  Virus protection on your computer. Recommend Sentinel One or Sophos.

 ***No Chromebooks, Windows 7, old Mac OS, etc. Computers must be able to update to stay secure.

Gastroenterology of the Rockies is a rapidly growing Gastroenterology practice in Boulder County and the greater Denver Metro area with eight office locations and five Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

 

Gastroenterology of the Rockies is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Remote Medical Coder to join our team. The Remote Medical Coder will be responsible for accurately coding medical records in accordance with coding regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with payer requirements and maximizing reimbursement for the practice.


Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records and accurately code diagnosis and procedural information using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
  • Ensure that medical records are coded in compliance with coding regulations and standards
  • Communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnosis and procedures for accurate coding
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in coding regulations and guidelines
  • Work closely with billing and collections teams to resolve coding-related issues and ensure timely reimbursement


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a gastroenterology practice
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High-speed internet connection and ability to work remotely
  • Education and Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a coding program, such as AAPC or AHIMA, preferred
  • Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, etc.) preferred


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to remain seated for extended periods, with occasional standing, walking, and use of a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
