The Endoscopy Technician (GI Tech) assists the physician and nursing staff in the procedure room to support safe, efficient endoscopic procedures. This role is responsible for equipment preparation, procedural support, and endoscope reprocessing. The position requires the ability to function within a team-based environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and workflow awareness.

Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician and nursing staff during endoscopic procedures
  • Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies prior to each case
  • Maintain procedural flow and assist with room turnover
  • Perform endoscope handling, cleaning, and disinfection processes
  • Complete manual cleaning steps, including leak testing and proper scope transport
  • Operate automated endoscope reprocessors (AER) as trained
  • Ensure proper documentation and tracking of scope usage and reprocessing
  • Stock supplies and maintain inventory


Clinical Expectations

  • Demonstrates attention to detail in equipment handling and reprocessing
  • Maintains awareness of procedural flow and prioritizes tasks accordingly
  • Communicates effectively with the clinical team to support patient care
  • Contributes to a coordinated, team-based approach to procedures


Additional Responsibilities

  • Support general clinical and operational needs of the center
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of procedure and reprocessing areas


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent – Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – Required
  • Highly prefer previous endoscopy experience
