Power of the Youth Civic Engagement Ambassador - Job Description


Program: Power of the Youth Vote Campaign


Employment Type: Temporary/Seasonal, Part-Time


Program Period :Field program: October 6 through November 3, 2026.


Hourly Rate

$24 per hour plus mileage and meal reimbursement. A cell phone stipend is also provided. 


Expected Workdays

Weekday evenings as assigned (generally Monday through Thursday), plus weekends when scheduled for days of action, events, or special activations.  Schedules are subject to change based on program needs and shifts. 


Expected Shift

Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Saturdays from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm

Sundays from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm


Regular Off Days

Monday-Thursday, and weekend work is required.


Requirements

Ability to pass a background check; availability for evenings from 4:00 PM and weekends; legal authorization to work in the U.S., must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and automobile insurance. Must have a smartphone with reliable internet service and the ability to download and manage applications.  Mileage reimbursement will be provided at $.76/ mile.


Required Training

Required Power of the Youth Vote canvassing training before the first field shift; October 5th, 2026.


Position Summary

Conduct door-to-door and community phone outreach to educate, register or pre-register, and mobilize young voters, using approved Power of the Youth Vote materials, scripts, voter guides, and data systems.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Attend mandatory orientation, phone banking, and canvassing training.
  • Report on time and complete assigned door-to-door canvassing shifts and turf, primarily in the evenings. 
  • Completing phone calls. 
  • Engage young voters, families, and community members about the importance of the youth vote, using approved scripts, voter guides, and program materials.
  • Support voter registration, pre-registration, pledge collection, and GOTV reminders (ballot return, early voting, and Election Day plans).
  • Recruit youth and community members to attend campaign events, trainings, and volunteer days of action.
  • Represent GCLI at community events, tabling, and weekend activations as assigned.
  • Accurately document voter/contact responses and required program data.
  • Support nightly reporting on outreach contact goals to attainment in company-provided systems or trackers. 
  • Meet assigned outreach and contact expectations.
  • Follow field safety procedures and work with assigned partners or teams.
  • Report turf, safety, technology, or data concerns to the Team Lead.


Attendance, Timekeeping and Conduct

  • Report to work on time for every assigned shift, training, and check-in.
  • Support nightly reporting on outreach contact goals to attainment in company-provided systems or trackers, 
  • Work only scheduled or supervisor-approved hours and submit accurate time records.
  • Follow approved GCLI scripts, materials, data procedures, safety instructions, and organizational policies.
  • Treat voters, youth, community members, volunteers, and coworkers professionally and respectfully.
  • Notify your supervisor as soon as possible if you will be late, absent, or unable to complete an assigned shift.
  • Successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment.
  • Protect confidential voter, youth participant, contact, and organizational information.

Salary

$24 - $24 per hour
