Job Posting:  Program Coordinator, Part-Time


Organization: Game Changers Leadership Institute (GCLI)


Location: Riverside, California


Position Type: Part-time, hourly, October. 


Compensation: $32/hour, plus benefits.



Who You Are 

The Program Coordinator will oversee daily operations and develop programs for Black and Brown youth aged 16 to 24. Key responsibilities include recruiting and training peer mentors, supervising staff, and creating culturally relevant curricula. 

 

The PC will manage the budget, expense reporting, grant categorizations, supply procurement, transportation, and ensure compliance with safety protocols, and assist in recruiting a diverse cohort of young leaders. Engaging with programs within the community and assisting in events is crucial. You will be assisting with venue management, event support,  insurance coverage, and day-of event coordination.  

 

Additionally, the PC will supervise and manage staff scheduling, time off requests, and handle administrative tasks. This role involves providing strategic support to the leadership team and collaborating with the Executive Director for smooth daily operations.


Key Objectives 


  • Supervise, train, and direct peer mentors, administrators, vendors, contractors, and volunteers, ensuring program goals are reached. 
  • Maintain and implement strategies, programs, activities, and solutions that maintain organizational standards of excellence, yield high-quality outcomes, and improve performance.  
  • Oversee the program budget with prudence, ensuring that expense reports and mileage are correctly submitted and recorded.
  • Support operations and programming on the ground and in the community.
  • Office management, assistance with physical materials procurement and management. 
  • Develop, coordinate, deliver, and/or facilitate trainings, workshops, presentations, meetings, programs, and events. 
  • Manage/maintain accurate records, database management, and logistics. 
  • Perform a wide variety of related duties as assigned.


Other Responsibilities 


Organizational Culture 

  • Establish constructive relationships with staff and youth program participants to establish trust, respect, and understanding. 
  • Create a safe space for meaningful dialogue between peer mentors, youth, and the organization. 
  • Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for all youth, regardless of background or identity. 
  • Create a supportive environment and culture of transparency, trust, innovation, leadership, and accountability throughout all aspects of the program. 


Program Design, Implementation, and Efficacy 

  • Implement resources, strategies, and programming to support youth in becoming invested in their communities and overcoming systemic barriers. 
  • Monitor program effectiveness and success using qualitative and quantitative metrics. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to successfully implement all programmatic activities. 
  • Implement strategies to increase youth recruitment and engagement in the program. 
  • Maintain effective communication with BIPOC youth organizers, stakeholders, funders, and program partners to ensure successful collaboration. 
  • Facilitate team meetings and support staff members and volunteers on operational issues and program-related activities. 
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the reach of GCLI programs. 


Program Support  

  • Analyze data collected to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans accordingly. 
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate the successes of program initiatives. 
  • Monitor progress towards desired outcomes, taking corrective action when needed. 


Safety and Compliance 

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to youth programs and nonprofit organizations.
  • Maintain the safety and security of program participants, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with best practices. 
  • Create and maintain insurance policies and event coverage documentation for programs. 


Cultural Competency:

A prerequisite for this position is a profound understanding and comfort in engaging with youth who may be experiencing challenges, Black and Brown youth, Black and Brown communities, and other communities of color. The successful candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of racial and social justice issues on a local, statewide, and national scale. Familiarity with transformative justice or abolitionist ideologies is crucial. This role requires a commitment to ongoing learning and promoting inclusivity, equity, and social justice in all interactions and initiatives.


Digital Innovation: 

We are a digitally innovative organization and have a robust tech stack. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology and have proficient computer skills. We use Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Keela or a similar CRM, Slack, Zoom, and Canva.


Required skills and qualifications 


Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience managing program staff in the nonprofit sector. 

Education: Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Communications, Liberal Arts, Political Science, Social Work, or a related field.


Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • High proficiency in computer programs, software, and social media, including Google Workspace, Zoom, graphic design/layout programs, and effective online research.
  • Excellent written, analytical, and oral communication abilities.
  •  Working knowledge of digital marketing.
  • Cultural Competence: Must enjoy and be willing to engage respectfully and enthusiastically with Black/African-American and Latine communities.
  • Passion for Social Justice: A strong commitment to social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion practices.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, community partners, constituents, organizational allies, and elected officials.
  • Professionalism: Must maintain a professional and ethical demeanor and uphold strict confidentiality.
  • Public Speaking: Ability to engage in public speaking and facilitate presentations for groups.
  • Dependability: Reliable and punctual in carrying out job duties. Dependability and punctuality are essential. Reliable transportation needed, must have a clean driving record and an ability to complete a background check. 
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt easily to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Work Ethic: Must be energetic, a self-starter, and capable of multitasking effectively both independently and as part of a team, even under pressure.


Preferred skills (not required)

  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce CRM software and Keela 
  • Experience in proposal/ grant writing 
  • Marketing and communication skills 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish


Compensation 

We want to build a long-term relationship with the right candidate and develop leadership opportunities within the organization. The Program Coordinator position is hybrid but must be located in the Inland Empire and within driving distance of Riverside, requiring the employee to be in the office three days a week. 

The hourly rate is $32/hour for up to 31 hours per week.
