Friendly Academy is a new K-5 charter school in St. Louis, MO, dedicated to equipping students with a holistic education rooted in love. We are seeking an Instructional Coach to provide targeted support to teachers, drive instructional excellence, and foster strong academic outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Academics, the Instructional Coach will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our academic model is implemented with fidelity and that teachers are supported in delivering high-quality instruction. As an Instructional Coach, you will have the unique opportunity to join a founding team, shaping the academic vision and laying the foundation for a school culture of excellence.

Responsibilities

Teacher Support and Development

• Provide one-on-one coaching to teachers through regular observations, feedback sessions, and modeling of best practices.
• Facilitate grade-level or content-area team meetings to analyze student data and plan instructional strategies.
• Plan and deliver high-quality professional development aligned with Friendly Academy’s instructional priorities.
• Assist teachers in lesson planning, assessment creation, and alignment with curriculum standards.
• Offer real-time feedback during instruction to enhance teaching practices.

Curriculum and Assessment

• Support the implementation of Friendly Academy’s instructional and curricular systems.
• Collaborate with the Director of Academics to align curriculum and assessments with student learning goals.
• Facilitate assessment cycles, including preparation, administration, and data analysis.

School Culture and Collaboration

• Build strong relationships with teachers, students, and families to foster a supportive and inclusive environment.
• Partner with the Director of Academics to create a cohesive academic vision.
• Work closely with the culture and operations teams to ensure consistency in school-wide practices.

Data-Driven Decision-Making

• Use formative and summative assessment data to identify trends, inform coaching, and drive instructional improvements.
• Monitor student progress and work with teachers to implement targeted interventions.

Qualifications

• MO teacher certification is required; additional coaching or leadership certifications are preferred.
• Bachelors Degree is required, Masters preferred 
• At least three years of teaching experience, with a demonstrated record of student growth and achievement.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor teachers to improve instructional practices.
• Strong knowledge of High-Quality Instructional Material, lesson internalization, and effective teaching strategies, and assessment. 
• Alignment with Friendly Academy’s mission and values.
