Summary:  

The Groomer Operator is responsible for maintaining high-quality ski and snowboard surfaces across Bousquet Mountain. This role involves operating snow grooming equipment to ensure safe, smooth, and consistent trail conditions for guests. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working overnight shifts in winter mountain conditions. Works directly with the Surface Manager and Mountain Manager. 

 

Essential Functions: 

• Operate snow grooming equipment (snowcats) to maintain trails, terrain parks, and learning areas 
• Groom slopes according to nightly plans, weather conditions, and skier traffic patterns 
• Monitor snow conditions and adjust grooming techniques for optimal surface quality. 
• Perform constant visual inspections of resort features in accordance with operating policies and procedures. Report safety concerns or irregularities to management / supervisor immediately and record conditions as required. 
• Perform routine inspections and routine maintenance of grooming equipment including cleaning, lubrication, mileage checks and oil changes. 
• Report mechanical issues, hazards, or unsafe trail conditions promptly 
• Maintain communication with supervisors and other mountain operations staff. Collaborate with the Surface manager, Mountain Manager, and team members to ensure resort equipment and vehicles are performing optimally. 
• Assist with snowmaking as required, including monitoring system for potential problems/hazards and reporting any issues to snowmakers and Mountain Operations Manager. 
• Help maintain terrain park features (if applicable) 

 

Qualifications: 

• Must be at least 21 years of age 
• Previous experience operating and working on heavy equipment with a broad road base of mechanical/electrical knowledge (snowcat experience a plus) 
• Ability to work overnight, weekends, and holidays during the ski season 
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills 
• Ability to work independently in low-visibility and cold weather conditions 
• Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset 
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company insurability requirements at all times. 
• Work independently in the absence of supervision with a focus on safety.  
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays required and willingness to flex up or down in scheduled work hours (based on business need). 

 

Physical Demands:  

This position requires routine exposure to inclement weather and outdoor elements, including snow, sleet, rain, and freezing temperatures, often for extended periods. The role involves constant walking and/or riding throughout park areas, with frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Employees must possess the manual dexterity necessary to safely operate equipment, including the ability to grasp, manipulate, and handle tools and small objects with precision. The position also requires the regular ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and otherwise maneuver items weighing between 50 and 100 pounds.
