Summary:  

This position is a dual role position in which the Primary Function is that of the Assistant Lift Mechanic inspects, maintains, diagnoses and repairs Lifts and Carpet equipment in support of the ski area’s operations, as directed by Lift Operations Manager or Mountain Manager. This position's secondary function is a general maintenance position with work to be performed collaterally with the lift position. 

 

Essential Functions - Asst. Lift Mechanic:  

 

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on lift systems and other mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and related equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. 
  • Respond to equipment malfunctions and emergency repair needs, maintain accurate maintenance records and inventory of parts and materials, and keep work areas organized, clean, and compliant with safety standards. 
  • Support lift operations by assisting with the training of lift staff, operating maintenance vehicles, tools, and specialized equipment, and performing maintenance activities at heights frequentlyexceeding 20 feet. 
  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly communicate unusual events, safety concerns, operational issues, or quality control matters to the Lift Operations Manager or Mountain Manager. 
  • Contribute to the overall operation of the resort by performing general maintenance duties, including trash removal and upkeep of maintenance, lift, lodge, and tubing areas, while working effectively both independently and as part of a team. 

 

Essential Functions -General Maintenance:  

  • Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, safety, and operational readiness of the resort's outdoor facilities, grounds, parking areas, walkways, patios, decks, cabanas, and other guest-facing spaces. 
  • Perform seasonal setup, snow and ice management, and general grounds maintenance activities, including plowing, sanding, salting, trash removal, signage placement, and ensuring outdoor amenities are organized, functional, and prepared for daily operations. 
  • Prepare and maintain guest amenities and common areas by organizing furniture and equipment, stocking and maintaining firewood and fire pits, and ensuring outdoor recreation areas are safe, clean, and welcoming. 
  • Support daily mountain operations by assisting with lift maze setup, lift area maintenance, snow and ice removal, waste management, and providing operational support for lift start-up, shut-down, and other mountain activities as needed. 
  • Safely operate maintenance vehicles, ATVs, snow removal equipment, and other tools and equipment to support efficient facility and mountain operations while adhering to established safety procedures. 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent required. Must be at least 21 years of age 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class D driver’s license and meet company insurability requirements at all times. 
  • Minimum of one year of direct or related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Understanding of basic electrical and hydraulic schematics, experience with diesel engines preferred 
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays required and willingness to flex up or down in scheduled work hours (based on business need). 
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision with a focus on safety.  

 

Physical Demands:  

 

The employee must be able to bend, lift, carry, crawl, climb, and frequently reach or extend their arms and hands above shoulder height while working in a constantly changing environment. This position requires the ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and tolerate temperature extremes in both indoor and outdoor settings. The employee must also be able to safely operate ATVs and other equipment on difficult and uneven terrain. The physical demands of the position include regularly lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 pounds, frequently lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lifting, carrying, and pushing 75 pounds or more.
