The Forum Cafe will bring together neighborhood residents, creatives, and commuters within the historic Forum complex at 43rd and the Green Line through a celebration of Bronzeville’s unique history and culture. We are dedicated to crafting exceptional food and beverages and fostering a warm, culture-forward environment that celebrates community and connection.

Key Responsibilities

• Beverage Preparation: Craft high-quality coffee, tea, and specialty beverages with precision, adhering to Forum Cafe’s standards. 
• Customer Service: Provide warm, professional, and engaging service to guests, creating a memorable and inclusive experience. 
• Register Operations: Handle digital transactions on our POS system, maintaining a smooth and efficient checkout process. 
• Front-of-House Maintenance: Keep the service area clean, organized, and inviting, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. 
• Community Engagement: Act as an ambassador for Forum Cafe, building relationships with customers and promoting the cafe’s culture-forward mission. 
• Event Support: Assist the Manager of Cafe with events, such as cultural programs or community gatherings, to enhance the cafe’s role as a local hub. 
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with back-of-house staff and the Manager of Cafe to ensure seamless operations and a cohesive guest experience.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of experience in a cafe, coffee shop, or hospitality role; previous barista experience is preferred
• Must be able to obtain a food handlers certificate
• Knowledge of coffee and tea preparation techniques, with a passion for learning and perfecting beverage craft. 
• Strong customer service skills with a warm, approachable, and community-oriented demeanor. 
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment. 
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems. 
• Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and collaboration skills. 
• Passion for food, coffee, and creating memorable guest experiences. 
• Experience in event support or community engagement is a plus. 
• Ability to contribute to a culture-forward, inclusive atmosphere.
