Key Responsibilities:
- Manages effective and streamlined administrative and financial systems, including financial forecasting, accounting services, banking, budgeting and expense reporting, human resources, and physical infrastructure.
- Actively participates in strategic planning, evaluation, and professional development initiatives.
- As the managing authority for financial and human resources the Senior Director of Finance and Administration will also interact with program staff to ensure understanding and compliance in these matters.
- Collaborates with an outside financial resource on monthly close, accounting, grant reporting, spending tracking, revenue reporting, and payroll.
- Performs monthly payroll processing and reconciliation.
- Reviews and approves preparation and finalization of monthly and annual financial reporting materials and metrics.
- Coordinates all audit and IRS form 990 activities.
- Responsible for maintaining and developing strong internal controls and month end close procedures; serve as external representative for financial matters related to the organization.
- Supervises the Director of Administration.
Fiduciary Excellence
- Provides fiduciary guidance and ensures compliance with all guidelines governing financial accounting and reporting and with all financial and investment policies.
- Ensures compliance with all laws, codes and practices governing FORA’s tax-exempt status; responsible for working with outsourced service to file charitable solicitation registrations and state “good standing” certificates.
- Oversees the record management process to ensure meticulous documentation of FORA’s financial and organizational activities. Drafts, updates, and ensures compliance with FORA’s Policy and Procurement Manuals.
- Provides oversight for the annual budget process, ensuring alignment with FORA’s objectives.
Education & Experience
- Five to eight years of professional nonprofit (preferred) experience, including managing finance and administration.
- Knowledge of accounting software (Quickbooks), payroll software (Gusto), spreadsheet software and familiarity with Salesforce (preferred).
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Management, or Finance (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively lead teams of staff on a variety of activities.
- Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing new ways of creating efficiencies.
- Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented.

The position is in-person for eight hours per day, 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday every week. The location is in the West Ridge area of Chicago.
