This is a leadership role in a specialized setting: you'll lead the electrical work behind residential heat pump installations — wiring equipment, running circuits, and completing panel and service upgrades — while mentoring apprentices and setting the standard for quality on every job.
You'll work as a job lead, guiding apprentices through the electrical scope of each install, troubleshooting more complex issues, and ensuring every job meets Forge's quality bar from start to finish.
Pay Range: $35–$50/hr, based on related experience, ability to mentor apprentices, ability to lead jobs independently, and quality of work.
Logistics
- Service area: Metrowest and Eastern Massachusetts — you'll travel to job sites across this area daily.
- Schedule: Consistent, full-time work, year-round, Monday–Friday — no on-call or after-hours rotation. We're proud to offer a stable, reliable schedule you can build a life around.
- Tools & vehicle: You won't get a company van on day one — you need to show us you can crush the work first (about 2 weeks). Prove you can do the work you're signing up to do, and the van, tools, and the freedom that goes with it are yours.
What You Will Do
- Lead the installation, wiring, and upgrade of electrical components and systems supporting heat pump installations
- Wire a variety of heating and cooling equipment: condensers, air handlers, minisplit heads, branch boxes, heat kits, thermostats, and integrated controls
- Perform and oversee panel and service upgrades
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical faults
- Read and interpret electrical layouts, schematics, and equipment submittals
- Review specifications, consult technical documentation, and work with tech support to resolve product issues
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols across the job site
- Mentor and train apprentices on-site, teaching technique, code compliance, and troubleshooting
- Take ownership of job quality, timeline, and communication with project coordinators and operations managers
