Foresight is seeking qualified candidates for our construction traffic engineer position to perform program oversight, construction management, and traffic control duties on the North Tarrant Express Projects in the Fort Worth, Texas area. As a key member of our team, the selected candidate will be given an opportunity to rotate and expand responsibilities within the company footprint in the Texas market to help grow the company’s construction and engineering service offerings. We are willing to train engineers with construction and traffic experience on the protocols and process for evaluating and approving the developer’s Lane Closure Requests (LCRs) for the projects contained within the NTE program. Gain construction oversight and administration experience from working with an experienced team in the field on a large-scale program of construction, operations, and maintenance projects covering over 30 miles of major highways.

The selected candidate will perform work on assignments independently, with on the ground guidance, support, and supervision provided as needed. All work will be performed in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines, as well as Foresight procedures and standards. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be co-located in the NTE program office with other program staff comprised of highly skilled and experienced team members who support each other by sharing knowledge and expertise. The primary roles/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the performance of and/or assistance with:

  • Providing a consistent programmatic approach and applying construction and traffic engineering expertise regarding the review and approval of the Developer’s requested LCRs on multiple Segments of the NTE projects between downtown Fort Worth, DFW Airport, and Alliance Airport in North Tarrant County. 
  • Engaging in LCR process training from TxDOT and the existing program team
  • Interpreting the developer’s contract including reading construction plans, adherence to specifications, and understanding large scale construction traffic phasing, control, and lane closure impacts and restrictions
  • Providing a quick and comprehensive turnaround of LCRs to coincide with each segment’s construction phasing and operations and maintenance activities.
  • Instituting a professional and disciplined process to review, manage, deny, and approve contractor’s submittals
  • Ensuring Developer compliance with relevant contract requirements
  • Tracking and reporting LCR progress and critical activities


  • Interacting directly with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to address issues
  • Preparing or reviewing technical analysis reports, presentations, and/or executive summaries
  • Assisting with quality control review for deliverables
  • Providing business development and operations support as needed

 

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this position:


  • Professional Engineer in the State of Texas is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management or similar field.
  • One to four years of Transportation construction and traffic engineering experience is preferred but not required. 
  • Proficiency in applicable Microsoft Suite products including Excel, Word, Project, Access and additional software including Revu Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Open Roads, Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling Software is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and experience coordinating with others (including project team members and/or external stakeholders) to identify and address project issues.

 

Job Location

The selected candidate will perform office job duties primarily from the NTE Program Office located in the Fort Worth, Texas area. Field work will be performed at the relevant project sites, which varies based on specific work assignments.

Travel Requirements: <10% to attend meetings and conferences, perform site visits, and participate in field inspections at various locations throughout Texas.

Salary

$70,000 - $120,000 per year
