Position Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable PEMB / Structural Detailer to join our team in Jefferson, Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have experience reading structural and architectural drawings and producing accurate shop, fabrication, and erection drawings for building projects. Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) is strongly preferred.
This is a hands-on position where accuracy, communication, problem-solving, and the ability to understand how building components fit together are important. The Detailer will work closely with engineering, project management, fabrication, and field personnel to produce clear and constructible drawing packages.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and revise shop, assembly, fabrication, and erection drawings for pre-engineered metal building projects.
• Interpret architectural, structural, engineering, contract drawings and specifications.
• Review MBS-generated drawings and details and modify or supplement them as required to meet company detailing and fabrication standards.
• Detail and coordinate PEMB components including primary framing, secondary framing, purlins, girts, eave struts, bracing, framed openings, roof and wall conditions, trims, flashing, and building accessories.
• Develop accurate dimensions, material information, connections, and fabrication details.
• Prepare and review material lists, cut lists, field bolt information, bills of materials, and other production information as required.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, proper fit-up, and constructability before release for fabrication.
• Identify discrepancies, conflicts, missing information, and potential fabrication or erection issues before they reach the shop or field.
• Make revisions based on engineering changes, redlines, customer comments, RFIs, field conditions, and project requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, estimators, fabricators, and erection crews to resolve detailing issues.
• Maintain organized project files, drawing revisions, and documentation.
• Provide drawing clarification and support to fabrication and field personnel as needed.
• Meet project schedules and deadlines.
• Assist with takeoffs, estimating, and other project-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
• Experience in structural detailing, building detailing, steel fabrication, drafting, construction, or related field preferred.
• Ability to read and understand structural, architectural, and engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD/drafting software.
• Strong understanding of dimensions, materials, connections, and construction/fabrication methods.
• Ability to visualize how building components fit together and identify potential conflicts before fabrication.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with engineering, fabrication, and project management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn company standards, processes, and software.
