We are looking for a detail-oriented, reliable part-time bookkeeper to help us maintain clean, accurate, and current financial records in QuickBooks Online. This is a hands-on role that requires someone who can work independently, move quickly, and bring order to a growing company's financial operations. Part-Time Bookkeeper

Compensation: $300 to $500/month based on hours and experience

Foodstream is a for-profit benefit corporation building the intelligence layer of food security. We transform fragmented food systems into coordinated, real-time networks that move food faster, smarter, and more equitably across communities. We operate across New York City through our coordination platform, education programs, and logistics partnerships. We are a lean, fast-moving team and we take our financial operations seriously.


The Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented, reliable part-time bookkeeper to help us maintain clean, accurate, and current financial records in QuickBooks Online. This is a hands-on role that requires someone who can work independently, move quickly, and bring order to a growing company's financial operations. You will work directly with the Co-Founder and COO.


What You Will Do

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.
  • Match incoming payments to open invoices and keep accounts receivable current.
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable and ensure contractor payments are properly recorded.
  • Categorize and code transactions accurately across revenue and expense accounts.
  • Generate monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
  • Flag discrepancies, anomalies, or missing records proactively.
  • Support grant reporting by ensuring financial records are clean, categorized, and audit-ready.
  • Assist with basic financial cleanup and backlog reconciliation.


What We Need

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online. This is required, not preferred.
  • At least 2 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably with small businesses, nonprofits, or startups.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Responsive communication and ability to meet monthly deadlines.
  • Experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliation.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.


Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting grant-funded organizations or benefit corporations.
  • Familiarity with contractor payment tracking and 1099 preparation.
  • Experience working with education, social impact, or food systems organizations.


Hours and Compensation

  • Estimated 10 - 15 hours per month.
  • Remote and flexible. Work on your own schedule as long as monthly deliverables are met.
  • Compensation of $300 to $500 per month depending on hours and experience.
  • Immediate start. We need someone who can begin within the next two weeks.
