Type: Part-time/Contractor (Fractional Executive Role)

Compensation: $50–$75 per hour, based on experience and certifications


About the Role


FoodStream Learn is seeking a strategic, hands-on Fractional Director to oversee the planning, implementation, and scaling of our nutrition and food education programs across NYC public schools. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned leader in education, nonprofit programming, or public health to work at a high level of impact on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will bring experience in curriculum development, educator training, school partnerships, and program rollout strategy, and will guide the program through pilot expansion, continuous improvement, and eventual citywide scale.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the refinement and development of curriculum content, ensuring alignment with DOE standards, FoodStream Learn values, and community needs
  • Oversee rollout planning including pilot selection, school onboarding, and educator support systems
  • Collaborate with school administrators, DOE contacts, and partner organizations to secure buy-in and facilitate smooth program integration
  • Manage pre-rollout training sessions and ongoing professional development workshops for educators and school staff
  • Adapt curriculum based on educator and student feedback, tailoring programs to the needs of specific school communities
  • Establish monitoring and evaluation systems to track program impact, student outcomes, and educator feedback
  • Support the creation of supplementary resources and ensure all tools are accessible and inclusive
  • Oversee community engagement efforts with chefs, nutritionists, local CBOs, and school families
  • Guide marketing and promotional strategies to raise awareness and visibility of FoodStream Learn across schools and communities
  • Track milestones, maintain detailed documentation, and report progress and findings to internal leadership and external partners
  • Play a key role in long-term strategy to scale the program from pilot to citywide implementation


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in program leadership within education, public health, or nonprofit sectors
  • Strong experience in curriculum development, program design, and educational rollout strategy
  • Proven success in building school partnerships and navigating school systems (NYC DOE experience preferred)
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with limited oversight
  • Experience in managing and motivating cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with food literacy, sustainability, nutrition, and/or wellness education strongly preferred
  • Comfortable with hybrid work — ability to attend occasional site visits and educator trainings
  • Spanish proficiency and experience with neurodiverse learners is a plus


Hours & Contract Details

  • Part-time contract role (approximately 10–15 hours/week, flexible)
  • Initial contract through end of school year, with opportunity to extend
  • Compensation commensurate with experience and availability
  • Must have a valid NY license and have a car. Driving to site is required at times.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Public Health, Nutrition, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Advanced degree (e.g., M.Ed., MPH, MPA) strongly preferred
  • Professional training or certification in curriculum development, program evaluation, or food systems is a plus
