Position Title: Group Counselor


Reports To: Clinical Director


Position Overview:

The Group Counselor provides evidence-based substance use disorder treatment services to clients and their families that is reflective of their credentialing, as well as the culture and guiding principles of the company. They maintain clinical integrity of all services and client information, in accordance with records security guidelines.

The incumbent must be a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in the state of North Carolina and have mastery of the Twelve Core Functions of a CADC. These include screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, client education, report and record keeping, consultation with other professionals in regard to client treatment and services, and referral to treat addictive disorder or disease and help prevent relapse

Job Functions:

· Provide high quality, compassionate, and ethical substance abuse therapy to clients as scheduled in individual, group, and family therapy settings.

· Actively participate as a positive member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

· Complete clinical assessments and documentation as necessary, including but not limited to, treatment plans, biopsychosocial assessments, concurrent reviews, discharge plans, etc.

· Responsible for providing group and individual treatment as directed by supervisor.

· Complete accurate clinical documentation same day as date of service.

· Maintain good standing with the appropriate board and insurance entities.

· Complete all recommended continuing education requirements.

· Stay current with updated research and best practices.

· Be aware of community referral sources and refer when necessary.

· Secure client information per HIPAA standards.

· Provide case management services and facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and programs.

· Provides and attends in-service training as needed.

Qualification Requirements:

We are looking for a dynamic professional who meets the following prerequisites:

· Candidate must be a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).

· High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree or higher preferred.

· At least 2 years of experience working in behavioral health/substance use disorder field.

· Experience with group and family counseling.

· Strong documentation skills.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human service periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and analyze policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Effective English-speaking skill required.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Electronic Medical Records; Internet software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

$17 - $21 per hour
