The Stem Cell Biologist will play a crucial role in establishing and managing a dedicated team to produce induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) derived cardiomyocytes using validated manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in cell biology, stem cell research, and industrial cell manufacturing.
PRIMARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*:
- Oversee, plan, and coordinate the production activities of iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes.
- Develop, implement, and refine scalable production processes.
- Lead a team of Biomedical Lab Technicians, providing technical guidance as needed.
- Assume responsibility for the quality control, monitoring, and assurance of the quality and yield of produced cells.
- Take charge of R&D (Research & Development) initiatives, implementing innovative technologies, and improving existing processes.
- Achieve production targets within the defined timelines.
- Regularly report production metrics and progress to senior management.
- Ensure strict adherence to and compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) regulations and other relevant quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage teams.
- Extensive knowledge of cell culture, cell biology, molecular biology, and relevant laboratory techniques.
- Demonstrated experience working within a GMP or other relevant quality standards environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical and scientific issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and flourish in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s or PhD degree in Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in stem cell research or production, preferably with a focus on iPSCs and differentiation into cardiomyocytes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Use your hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Prolonged periods of standing, must be able to bend at the waist and knee, occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.
- This role requires consistent use of PPE, including safety glasses, face mask/shield as appropriate, lab coat, non-latex gloves, due to required handling of potentially infectious biological substances, fixatives, and other chemicals
