Flipz Pet Care is a small, queer owned and operated pet care company serving Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY. Our goal is to create an inclusive workspace for compassionate and dedicated career pet professionals with a team mentality to expand their knowledge of dog behavior, and use it to provide the very best quality of care for the animals in our pack.

We are currently looking for part-time dog walkers to provide compassionate care for 10-15 hours per week. There will be opportunities to cover additional shifts, and grow your hours gradually over time

We are looking for an experienced, reliable Dog Walker to take care of our growing pack. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is passionate about dogs, is honest, flexible, athletic, and has excellent communication skills. This part-time position is perfect for dog lovers who are responsible, reliable and capable of fast-paced daily walks.

Responsibilities:

• Walk 1- 4 dogs at a time.
• Walk an average of 2 miles per hour on each walk (completing a 2 mile walk within an hour).
• Work in all-weather conditions.
• Clean up pet waste, both outside and inside client's home.
• Have knowledge of the local environment.
• Navigate public transit efficiently.
• Be able to maneuver dogs on and off of the leash.
• Communicate directly with management.
• Communicate with dog parents.
• Use a mobile app to track your appointments
• Consent to GPS verification while at work.
• Be knowledgeable of dog health issues, such as food allergies and seasonal medication requirements.
• Carry dogs when safety requires it (hot pavement, snow melt, etc.)
• Read dog body language and make adjustments to your behavior accordingly.
• Use positive reinforcement to help dogs cope with stress
• Occasional Cat Sitting duties (clean-up, litter box maintenance, food and water, etc)

Paid Training is $15 per hour and lasts 1-3 weeks depending on your prior knowledge, skill level and availability. Upon completion of training, starting pay is $17.50 per hour for the average candidate, or $18 per hour for individuals deemed to have extensive professional experience and dog handling skills. Raises given based on performance and seniority.
