Description

Volunteer Opportunity: Mobile Literacy Program Support

Mission

At First Communication Bridge Outreach, our mission is to empower seniors, veterans, people of faith, youth, and underserved communities by bridging the digital divide. We provide accessible mobile literacy programs that build confidence, foster independence, and help individuals stay safe, connected, and engaged through technology.

About Us

First Communication Bridge Outreach is dedicated to closing the digital gap by teaching the fundamentals of smartphone use and mobile technology. Through our hands-on courses, participants gain practical skills to connect with loved ones, access telehealth services, and safely navigate online spaces.

We believe in compassion, patience, and zero judgment as we guide individuals toward digital confidence. Our programs focus on building not only technical ability but also human connection, so every participant feels supported and empowered in their learning journey.

Volunteer Role

As a Mobile Literacy Volunteer, you will:

  • Assist seniors and adults one-on-one or in group classes
  • Demonstrate simple phone skills (calls, texting, apps, settings, accessibility features)
  • Provide patient, hands-on support with compassion and encouragement
  • Help distribute materials, set up classrooms, and answer basic tech questions
  • Optionally assist with outreach, registration, or follow-up support

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking patient, friendly, and reliable individuals who enjoy helping others. No advanced tech skills are required—if you can use a smartphone, you can volunteer!

This opportunity is great for:

  • Students, retirees, and educators
  • Anyone passionate about digital inclusion
  • Multilingual speakers (Spanish, Hmong, Tagalog, Arabic, etc.)—a plus but not required

Benefits of Volunteering

  • Make a lasting impact on someone’s independence and confidence
  • Build teaching, leadership, and communication skills
  • Earn community service hours (great for students and interns)
