Product Lead for AI Weather Platform

About Excarta

Excarta’s mission is to make businesses resilient to volatile weather.

As our weather becomes more volatile due to climate change, anyone operating in the physical world is increasingly exposed to the impacts of weather. Excarta is a seed-stage startup focused on providing accurate and actionable information to build resiliency against volatile weather and climate change.

Our small-but-powerful team has 10+ years of experience from Google, DeepMind, Xerox PARC, and Masterclass in backend engineering, applied ML, and climate modeling. In less than a year, we’ve built powerful AI weather models (featured in places like the Washington Post) that provide weather forecasts more accurate than what conventional sources can provide.

We understand that no one person may have all the skills we need, and encourage you to apply if you meet most but not all requirements. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, marital status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other legally protected status.

About the role

  • Translating product strategy into actionable requirements, prioritizing features based on business and customer impact
  • Identifying and prioritizing customer segments and use-cases by conducting customer research, incorporating customer feedback, and generating new ideas.
  • Working closely with the engineering teams to deliver features with optimal use of resources
  • Acting as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding

What you bring

  • 5+ years experience as a Product Manager, with demonstrated ability to dive into new and highly technical areas, identifying customer pain points and new opportunities
  • Experience in rapid ramp, scale up, and transitioning of ideas to new products, and managing a successful product from inception to launch
  • Experience building customer-facing platforms and solutions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, UX, and external stakeholders
  • Prior experience in the weather & climate industry, or related industries such as energy, agriculture, insurance, is a plus

What we value

  • Diversity in backgrounds and experience, both offering and welcoming different points of view
  • Comfort with working in ambiguity, and willingness to get your hands dirty
  • Curiosity to learn new skills, tools, and frameworks, and a willingness to contribute to tasks outside of your core responsibilities
