Description:
We are seeking motivated and curious West Michigan-based students to join our innovation internship program. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in learning cutting-edge technology approaches.
Innovators work remotely in teams (openLabs) where they are provided local real-life community problems and iterate on solutions with the support of other innovators and a coach. Innovators build solutions using artificial intelligence, immersive/ gaming technology, software development, data management, and quality assurance approaches.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the other digital innovators and coaches to learn about real-world problems and build collaborative solutions, and improve solutions iteratively.
- Utilize user-centered design, story-telling, game theory, psychology, and empathy to build solutions that people enjoy.
- Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance of software solutions to ensure fast adoption, and optimal performance, usability, and reliability.
- Assist in data logistics tasks, including data cleaning, validation, and transformation, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used in our software solutions.
- Contribute to the creation and improvement of 3D simulations and shared immersive experiences, using industry-standard authoring tools and techniques.
- Participate in regular team remote communication and discussions, providing clear and concise updates on progress, and feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement on both software solutions and work practices.
- Learn more about the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to ensure the delivery of cutting-edge solutions.
- Participate at live, in-person events to build the West Michigan innovation community.
Requirements:
- Over 14 and under 19 years old.
- Documentation to verify authorization to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take-over sponsorship for an employment visa at this time.
- Current West Michigan resident. We are only able to accept applications from residents of Greater Grand Rapids and the following West Michigan counties: Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, and Ottawa.
- Currently enrolled in West Michigan middle, high school, or GED program.
- Completion of Casual Simulation practice permit learning or equivalent digital experience.
- Interest in learning more about programming, such as Javascript.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in a remote team environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Compensation:
$12 - $15 per hour, depending on experience
