As a generalist game artist at EQL Games, you will be a part of the game design and development process from the very beginning. Working from design briefs and creating concept art, you will help shepherd a new generation of industry leading games into the worlds of iLottery, iGaming and related, emerging markets. As a foundational hire at a small startup, you will wear many hats, working on in-game animations in the morning and doing graphic design work and photoshop wizardry at noon. 

Responsibilities

• Be able to create an art vision that tells a story of the game in one picture.
• Work closely with the Producer and the team to conceptualize, storyboard, prototype and ultimately create high quality final game art in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provide creative solutions to artistic and technical problems.
• Support engineering development by updating and modifying artwork to meet technical requirements.
• Communicate game direction through thumbnails and storyboards.
• Create artwork for all aspects of games, including game logos, symbols, backgrounds and other theme art.
• Maintain excellent art quality regarding design, layout, color theory, and typography.
• Communicate with the game designer and development team in an iterative development process.
• Collaborate with partner game artists in other studios throughout Game Development.
• Maintain well-organized working files to facilitate file sharing and collaborative work.
• Archive all final working files for future use using version control best practices.

What we are looking for

• Proficient at creating unique emotive characters and immersive worlds.
• Proficient at logo and interface design.
• Proficient at graphic illustration and overall graphics creation.
• Strong drawing skills, ability to visualize and design from abstract ideas.
• Strong understanding of visual language - texture, color, dimension, scale, perspective, shade, composition depth of field, proportion, spatial awareness, etc.
• Ability to work with a variety of different styles.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
• Cross-functional interaction across a wide range of experience levels.
• Ability to receive art direction (even if you are sure it's wrong) and provide multiple design solutions.
• Proficient with art and design tools, such as Adobe products.
• Experience with 2D and 3D animation, and familiarity with the principles of animation is helpful, but not required.
