Description

We are seeking an Associate Scientist or Scientist to join our growing company as part of the Protein Sciences team to support production, quality control, and early-stage development of therapeutic molecules (e.g. bispecific antibodies). Key responsibilities include developing binding assays (BLI, SPR, ELISA, and MSD) for routine quality control as well as early-stage development efforts for clinical candidates. The candidate will also perform developability assessments of all antibodies as part of hit-to-lead optimization and assist with the purification of antibodies with established and novel formats to support antibody engineering efforts and pipeline programs.


Essential Job Functions, but not limited to:


  • Develop and execute BLI- and SPR-based assays for routine quality control of mono, bi-, and multi-specific antibodies 
  • Develop and execute ELISA or MSD-based assays to support all stages of antibody development from discovery through IND-enabling studies
  • Perform developability assessments of monoclonal and bispecific antibodies to support antibody discovery group
  • Assist in the purification of monoclonal and bi- and multi-specific antibodies
  • Maintain and troubleshoot analytical and purification equipment
  • Maintain accurate records and interpret and communicate results at function-specific and company-wide meetings


To qualify for this position, candidates must have:


  • PhD in in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, or a closely related discipline with 0-2 years of relevant experience, MS in a similar field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or BS in a similar field with 10+ years relevant experience
  • Strong theoretical and working knowledge of measuring binding kinetics using both BLI and SPR
  • Excellent understanding of antibody structure and function
  • Proven history of bioanalytical method development and implementation, including ELISA and MSD
  • Familiarity with protein and antibody purification and routine quality control analysis, including SDS-PAGE and analytical SEC
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on analytical and purification equipment
  • Good lab citizenship and ability to work in a collaborative work environment and in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain accurate records
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to deliver scientific presentations and regular updates 


The expected base salary range for the Associate Scientist role is $108,000-$132,000.

The expected base salary range for the Scientist role is $118,000 – $144,000.

 

The above pay range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation is based on various factors, including experience, education, skillset, and geographic location. This pay range is for the Bay Area, CA, location and may be adjusted to the labor market in other geographic areas.
