The Research and Product Specialist plays a critical role in the operation and maintenance of our commercial algae production facility. This position is responsible for ensuring peak culture health, maintaining facility standards, and overseeing the end-to-end production process. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a meticulous eye for detail, a commitment to cleanliness, and the ability to work independently to meet production goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute daily algae growth and production protocols to ensure consistent output.
• Uphold sterile conditions and bioreactor cleanliness to safeguard culture health.
• Monitor culture density utilizing microscopy and precise cell count calculations.
• Manage the bottling of finished products and prepare orders for efficient shipment.
• Coordinate logistics by palletizing or boxing/packaging finished goods and ensuring outbound readiness.
• Maintain rigorous inventory controls for raw materials, consumables, and finished goods.
• Adhere to strict sanitation standards to ensure overall facility cleanliness.
• Implement system improvements and perform mechanical repairs as instructed or needed.
• Ensure equipment and tools are properly organized.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
• Proven physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Proficiency in basic mathematics for cell density calculations and measurements.
• Experience with spreadsheets for data logging and performance tracking.
• Strong analytical and adaptive thinking skills for real-time problem-solving.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with comfort in minor repairs and installations.
• Exceptional attention to process control, consistency, and organizational cleanliness.
• Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, reliability, and accountability.
• Timely documentation of daily work and processes.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills.
• Strong multitasking ability to handle a diverse range of responsibilities.
• Team player with a collaborative mindset.
• Prolonged periods standing or sitting at a desk working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
• Able to travel as needed.

• Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with an ability to overcome obstacles as an individual and with group coordination.
• Effective time management skills and can thrive in a team environment.
• Proficient with technology and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Canva, HubSpot, and email/applications.
• Have a strong operational focus, analytical ability, and good judgment with high ethical standards.
• Ability to communicate with all people effectively and courteously.
