About the Role

Encore Protection Services is looking for dependable, professional security officers to join our standby team in the Philadelphia area. As a Standby Officer, you will be contacted on an as-needed basis to fill shifts when callouts or staffing gaps occur across our active client sites. This is a 1099 independent contractor position — ideal for officers who want flexible work on their own schedule without a fixed weekly commitment.

What to Expect

• You will be contacted by phone or through our scheduling platform when a shift becomes available
• You choose whether to accept or decline — no minimum shift requirement
• Shifts may include daytime, evening, overnight, and weekend hours depending on operational needs
• Sites include commercial properties, residential communities, waterfront venues, and special events throughout Philadelphia

Responsibilities

• Report to assigned post on time and in full Encore uniform
• Follow all site-specific post orders and client instructions
• Monitor premises, control access, and respond to incidents professionally
• Complete required reports accurately and on time
• Communicate any issues or incidents to your supervisor immediately

What We're Looking For

• Prior security experience preferred but not required — we will train the right person
• Professional appearance and strong communication skills
• Reliable transportation and ability to report on short notice
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
• Valid PA or NJ security license preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States

Compensation

• Rate varies per assignment — communicated at the time each shift is offered
• Paid on a regular basis for all completed shifts
• 1099 independent contractor — you are responsible for your own taxes
• Form 1099-NEC issued annually for earnings of $600 or more
