Emmaus Church is a welcoming Christian community in Beaverton, Oregon committed to helping people walk together, follow Jesus, and tell the story of God’s love. Each Sunday at 9 AM, they gather for worship — whether in person at Beaverton First United Methodist Church or online — where people of all ages can connect with God and one another through heartfelt worship, biblical teaching, and shared community life. Emmaus Church emphasizes the importance of authentic relationships, spiritual growth, and joining God’s work in the world together, offering ways to connect through community groups, ministries, and online resources for those seeking deeper faith and belonging.

The Director of Youth will be responsible for helping to establish vision, culture and policies for Emmaus Youth, building age specific ministries for 6th - 12th grade. She/he oversees the staff, the programs, the volunteers and the budget for Youth ministry and are expected to envision how their ministry will develop and evolve such that it grows in kingdom impact.

• Be a positive influencer for righteousness and justice in the community
• Steward the human and material resources entrusted to the church

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with Executive Pastor to establish vision for Emmaus Youth
• Prepare lesson(s) for weekly Youth Group gatherings or empower leaders to share.
• Recruit, equip and empower volunteers to run Youth Group gatherings and to disciple Emmaus Youth.
• Oversee weekly Youth gatherings.
• Equip and empower volunteers to plan and execute seasonal Youth camps & events, and weekly gatherings.
• Plan and execute Emmaus Youth participation in Easter and Christmas Eve Gatherings.
• Provide regular communication with Youth parents.

SUNDAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide a shepherding connection point for those in attendance.
• Attend Sunday services and use this time to connect with parents and youth and make connections with potential volunteers.

DECISION MAKING AND COMMUNICATION:

• Full authority over all decisions related to Youth.
• Full authority over the budget and spending in Youth within the bounds defined by the annual budget.
• Key decisions requiring a departure from the budget or changes/additions to stated values or policies should be discussed with the Executive Pastor.
• Reports directly to the Executive Pastor.

EXPRESSING EMMAUS PILLARS:

• Walk Together - Partner in shepherding Emmaus in its practice of fellowship and unity.
• Follow Jesus - Partner in the formation of Emmaus through imitating the ways of Jesus.
• Tell the Story - Partner in mission by demonstrating and proclaiming, in word and deed, the reality of Jesus’ kingdom.
