EMS SYSTEM SPECIALIST-OPERATIONS

New Cumberland, PA

 

The Emergency Health Services Federation, Inc. is the Regional EMS Council for South Central Pennsylvania providing oversight of the emergency medical service system and public heath activities for over two million citizens. We are currently seeking an EMS System Specialist-Operations. This position is primarily performed in an office and field-based environment and may require travel throughout the region, attendance at meetings, and availability outside standard business hours as operational needs require.

 

Primary Responsibilities

1.      Provides prompt assistance and ongoing operational support to EMS agencies, educational institutes, continuing education sponsors, EMS providers, and other stakeholders for the purpose of advancing the EMS system.

2.      Participates in the accreditation and reaccreditation processes for EMS agencies

3.      Maintains inventory and supplies for the operations department

4.      Provides licensure inspections.

5.      Participates in the regional Medical Advisory Committee, Pre-hospital Operations Committee, Regional Communications Committee, Quality Improvement Committee and any other committee as assigned by leadership.

6.      Attends other committee and county council meetings as assigned.

7.      Participates in investigations authorized by the Pennsylvania Bureau of EMS, including complaint-related matters, as assigned.

8.      Participates in the inspection of medical command facilities.

9.      Participates in the coordination of region and agency-specific pilot programs.

10.    Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities for Position

1.      Education Required

a.      High school diploma or equivalent

b.      Current certification at or above the level of Emergency Medical Technician

2.      Education Recommended

a.      Associates degree or at least 30 college credits.

b.      Certification as an AEMT or higher

3.      Experience Required:

a.      A minimum of 3 years of prehospital care experience

b.      Working knowledge of EMS system operations

4.      Experience Preferred:

a.      Prior supervisory or management experience

b.      Prior complaint investigation experience
