THE OPPORTUNITY

Elauwit Connection is a newly public telecom company (NASDAQ: ELWT) delivering fiber-based Network as a Service (NaaS) to multifamily and student housing communities across the country. We move fast, bid nationally in all lower 48 states, and win on the strength of our technical precision.

We're hiring a Lead OSP & Low Voltage Designer / Solutions Estimator to own the technical pre-construction process for complex MDU, campus, and high-rise projects. This is a high-visibility, high-ownership role on a lean team where your estimates directly shape the deals we win and the network we build.

If you've spent years with a shovel in the ground (figuratively), know the cost of a bad conduit route, and can move from site walk to constructible bid without hand-holding, read on.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Design-Build Estimating

  • Manage end-to-end estimating for MDU, campus, and high-rise projects, from initial site assessment to fully-vetted, constructible bid packages.
  • Perform detailed material takeoffs (MTOs) and labor calculations for OSP and low-voltage systems.
  • Turn bids quickly and accurately; this is a competitive market and speed matters.

OSP Engineering

  • Design optimized underground conduit routes and FTTU fiber architectures for complex MDU environments.
  • Develop Engineering Work Order (EWO) packages including riser diagrams, pathway layouts, and device locations.
  • Serve as the company's subject matter expert on trenching, directional boring (HDD), and micro-trenching methodologies.

Vendor & Client Collaboration

  • Build and maintain vendor relationships to secure competitive, real-world pricing.
  • Partner with internal project management and sales teams to deliver accurate, turnkey proposals.
  • Contribute directly to multi-million dollar wins by producing bids that reflect actual site conditions, not assumptions.

Process & Tooling

  • Own and continuously improve our estimating workflow by recommending better software, templates, and processes that increase accuracy and win rate.
  • Leverage AI tools (Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT) for research, documentation, and data analysis as a natural part of your workflow. Bring in industry tools Vetro, NearMap, and StackCT to improve SLAs and accuracy..
  • Help train and develop junior team members as we scale.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 8–12+ years of direct experience in OSP engineering and low-voltage design, with a proven track record estimating underground conduit systems in MDU or campus environments.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of trenching, HDD/directional boring, and micro-trenching. You know what each method costs and when to use it.
  • A vendor network you can actually call; you know who to reach and how to get real quotes fast.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, unsupervised environment with high stakes.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical scopes into clear, compelling proposals.

Credentials & Education

  • RCDD or BICSI OSP Designer certification is a plus, but we value deep field experience over credentials. Equivalent on-the-job expertise is fully respected.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.

Tools & Tech (Required)

  • Proficient in OSP/low-voltage design and estimating software (e.g., AutoCAD, OSPInsight, Bluebeam, Fiber Manager, or equivalent). We are building for MDU and campuses - so need to be able to scale down and move through a lot of unknowns.
  • You’ve built your own Excel templates with formulas and lookups; no hand-typed pricing
  • Comfortable using AI tools as productivity accelerators. This is a genuine part of how we work, not a buzzword.
  • Naturally curious and systems proficient; you don't need to be taught how everyday tools work (calendar, docs, CRM, ticketing) and when a new system is introduced, you dive in and figure it out.

WHY ELAUWIT

  • Ground-floor impact at a newly public company. Your bids and designs shape our national infrastructure.
  • High ownership culture on a lean, agile team. No bureaucracy; no waiting for permission to do great work.
  • Clear growth path: as we scale, this role has a natural trajectory toward Director of Engineering or VP of Pre-Construction.
  • Remote-friendly with genuine work-life balance. We expect high performance, not 60-hour weeks.
  • Competitive compensation ($100K–$125K DOE) plus comprehensive benefits, with upside tied to company growth.

HOW TO APPLY

Send your resume through our Gusto ATS and include a brief note on the most complex OSP or MDU project you've estimated: what made it hard, how you solved it, and what it cost.

Qualifying question on app: In 150 words or fewer: describe one specific way you use an LLM in your current estimating or design work. What tool, what task, what changed about your output. Generic answers will not advance.
