Position Title: Design Assistant

Reports To: Principals of Elan Design House

Employment Status: Non-Exempt, Part-time (15-19 hours per week) with the potential to grow to full-time 

Essential Job Functions: responsibilities will include but are not limited to

• Must be available to work in the office Monday and two other fixed days per week of your choosing
• Learn EDH procedures quickly and begin assisting Principals effectively
• Respond to emails and phone calls promptly and proactively
• Assisting with design drawings and renderings
• Job site measures
• Material and FF&E selections
• Creating design documents (including but not limited to, material/finish/lighting schedules, project budgets, design presentations, construction documents, and spec package for proposals)
• Client and vendor communication
• Attending client/job site meetings and taking meeting notes
• Vendor communication
• Maintaining the office sample library
• Pick up and return vendor samples
• Meeting deliveries at job sites
• Project administration and project management

The Interior Design Assistant position requires someone who will be proactive in getting work done, but who is receptive to having their work reviewed or receiving feedback. This person is diligent and meticulous in meeting each project’s needs promptly and affably. This person should be a team player who is ready to learn and takes direction well.

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

• Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design
• AutoCAD skills and experience creating construction documents 
• Solid math skills - comfort in measurements, calculating budgets, calculating material quantities
• Ability to drive to showrooms, project sites, client homes, and other areas throughout San Diego as needed

Desired Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of work experience
• Sketch Up skills or other 3D modeling program skills

• Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period
• Navigate a construction site safely and withstand loud noise levels on construction sites
