Position Summary

This role serves as a key administrative resource, coordinating day‑to‑day HR functions such as recruitment support, onboarding, employee records management, benefits administration, and compliance with employment policies and regulations. In addition, the position performs essential bookkeeping responsibilities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with payroll coordination. You will serve as back up in the finance department when needed. The role requires strong attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to balance human resources priorities with financial accuracy to support smooth organizational operations.

Essential Duties

HR Administration & Documentation

• Manage onboarding, offboarding, and employee promotions under Finance Lead direction

• Maintain ATS and HRIS systems and records

• Maintain up to date company documents, standard operating procedures, and employee records

• Administer employee benefits and respond to related inquiries

• Serve as branch point of contact for employee time, payroll, and reporting questions

• Train new employees on the use of Gusto

• Maintain and report accurate data for Unemployment claims, Worker compensation claims, and OSHA reporting.

• Provide guidance on workplace policies, including injury reporting, harassment prevention, and leave compliance

• Escalate questions or concerns to the Finance Lead.

• Perform additional tasks, special projects, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and Finance Lead


Finance Support

• Deposit all Sunset Investment Holdings (SIH) checks, excluding those designated for SIH Transport

• Process and record all SIH expenses, including receipt entry and bill payments

• Reconcile checking, money market, and Visa accounts

• Serve as backup for bookkeeping tasks in QuickBooks and Brite Venue as directed by the Finance Lead

• Process bi‑weekly employee and monthly contractor payroll through Gusto for Finance Lead review and approval

• Prepare and complete payroll reports in conjunction with the bookkeeper

• Serve as backup support in Passare as directed by the Finance Lead

• Manage exports, process check requests, and assist with pre‑need processing for all branches

• Perform additional tasks, special projects, and other duties as assigned by the Finance Lead.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer.

• May be required to lift up to 25 pounds for document or supply management.

• Ability to follow all departmental safety practices, protocols, and regulatory standards.

Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field

• Minimum 2 years of experience in human resources role or administrative experience

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

• Must successfully pass a background check.

• Must possess a compatible smartphone capable of supporting required applications and communication tools.

• HRIS proficiency (employee records, onboarding/offboarding, benefits, and reporting)

• Proficiency in QuickBooks, time management systems, financial reporting systems; strong understanding of payroll, budgeting, and reconciliation processes.

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job functions.
