Supervisor: Director of Funeral Operations


Outstanding Customer Service: The Funeral Director/Embalmer is responsible for

creating a positive first impression whether it is over the phone, responding to a death

call, at the main office and/or at a service. When working events, he/she is responsible for opening doors, greeting and handing out memorial folders to guests as they enter the funeral home, event center, cemetery or other facility, ushering guests to their seats as necessary and delegating tasks to service assistants and/or assisting directors. He/she will be responsible for overseeing visitations and evening services, conducting and working services, working on-call rotation and should always be looking for ways to exceed the expectations of the family being served.


Event Planning: This position will guide the family throughout the entire funeral service experience. He/she will present all funeral home, event center and cemetery options to all families. The Funeral Director/Embalmer will coordinate, plan and schedule visitations, services, receptions, open houses etc… with and between the funeral home, event center, cemetery and other facilities. He/she will schedule all service arrangements and details such as clergy, honorariums, military organizations and any other persons involved in conducting the event. He/she will order all necessary merchandise for the event such as casket, urn, flowers etc... He/she will be responsible for using the MS 365 applications and CRM systems to track all appointments and/or events and coordinating shipment of remains to and from other cities and locations. He/she must communicate details of each event with other team members at the funeral home, event center and cemetery offices on a consistent basis.


Administrative Support: The Funeral Director/Embalmer will obtain all necessary

information needed to complete required documents such as the death certificate and burial transit permit; insurance policies, VA burial benefits, obituaries and death notices. He/she will work with office staff to ensure all paperwork and legal documents are filed with appropriate agencies and will proofread all print materials and obituaries before print and/or submission. He/she is responsible for ensuring all paperwork behind the scenes is completed accurately, timely and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.


Maintenance/Clean-up: The Funeral Director/Embalmer will be responsible for keeping work environments clean. Cleaning will include vacuuming, dusting, cleaning dishes and taking trash out. The arrangement rooms should be cleaned after every arrangement. The snacks should be straightened up, dishes moved to kitchen and washed and straighten chairs up for the next meeting. The bathrooms should be cleaned regularly. This includes cleaning toilets, stocking toilet paper, paper towels and sweeping and mopping floor. Cleaning of the chapel will include stocking Kleenex for families, straightening chairs in rows and vacuuming. You will be required to clean downstairs bathrooms, prep rooms and crematory. This cleaning will involve stocking shelves, deep clean with bleach the prep room, sweep and mop the entire downstairs. Maintenance and cleaning involve the vehicles as well. This requires cleaning trash out of vehicles, items from service being put up where they belong, washing exterior of vehicles, vacuuming inside of vehicles and fueling all vehicles. Any items that we run low on should be reported to the proper people so it can be reordered and restocked.


Prep Work and Crematory Operations: He/she will be responsible for embalming and

preparing the bodies of the deceased (dressing, cosmetology, casketing and hair) for

funeral services as well as burials or cremations, transportation or other disposition in

conformity with legal requirements, best practices and must treat the deceased with the utmost respect and dignity. He/she will safely utilize embalming instruments and

machinery in accordance with company guidelines. He/she will be responsible for

crematory operations including but not limited to preforming cremations, light

maintenance of the crematory, processing and filling urns and keepsakes. He/she will be required to use personal protective equipment and adhere to relevant operational and safety procedures as they relate to the prep room and crematory operations.


Evaluation/Accountability: The Funeral Director/Embalmer will report directly to the

Funeral Home Location Manager who is responsible for ensuring that the Funeral

Director/Embalmer is working in alignment with his/her job duties and responsibilities

and the mission, vision and values of Einan’s Funeral Homes. The Funeral Director/Embalmer will be evaluated after 90 days and then every work anniversary date to make sure he/she meeting the company’s expectations. Measurable goals based on key components within this job description will be established and evaluated annually.


Qualifications: To ensure that the Funeral Director/Embalmer is in alignment with the

mission, vision and values of Einan’s Funeral Homes, he/she must BELIEVE in exceptional customer service, understand the value in celebrating life, exemplify strong verbal and written communication skills, be detail oriented, be able to work in a fast paced environment but able to keep busy when business is slow and be open to change. He/she must be sensitive to the feelings of others and be able to feel empathy for the grief and stress others are experiencing. In addition to these qualities, embalmers must have a strong stomach when it comes to sights and smells and be able be able to use a delicate touch. Must have a valid driver’s license with insurance, have a clean driving record and able to work nights, weekends and holidays. He/she must be able to obtain Alcohol Server Permit, Food handlers’ card and be able to physically lift up to 200 pounds. Must have valid Funeral Director/Embalmer License and/or the ability to obtain license in Washington State and be proficient with computers and technology. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.

Salary

$20 - $36 per hour
