We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to manage patient referrals efficiently and ensure smooth communication between primary care providers, specialists, insurance companies, and patients. The ideal candidate has strong administrative skills, knowledge of healthcare systems, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient service.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Receive, process, and track patient referrals to specialists or outside facilities
  • Verify insurance coverage, authorization requirements, and referral eligibility
  • Communicate with patients regarding appointment details and instructions
  • Coordinate with physicians, providers, and office staff to gather required documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of referral statuses in electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Follow up on pending referrals to ensure timely scheduling and completion
  • Address patient or provider questions regarding referral procedures
  • Ensure all referral processes comply with HIPAA and other applicable regulations
  • Assist in improving referral workflows and patient access procedures

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration is a plus
  • Previous experience in a healthcare administrative or referral coordination role preferred
  • Familiarity with insurance processes, pre-authorizations, and healthcare terminology
  • Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athena, Cerner) and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills

Work Environment:


  • Full-time or part-time
  • Typically based in a medical office, clinic, or remotely depending on the employer
  • May require phone-based interaction, data entry, and coordination with multiple departments


Salary

$30 - $35 per hour
