Earthmover PBC is a seed-stage startup with a mission to empower people to use scientific data to solve humanity’s greatest challenges. We are building a revolutionary new cloud data lake platform with a native understanding of complex scientific datasets. Today we focused on serving the infrastructure needs of the climate, weather, and geospatial data communities. Our long-term vision is to create “GitHub for scientific data”.


As chief of staff at a small but growing company, your role comprises strategy, operations, and business development. We’re looking for someone to complement our highly technical team of scientists and engineers with business and operational experience around building enterprise SaaS companies.


About You

To succeed in this role, you should bring

  • Three or more years of hands-on experience working at startups, ideally in the data, analytics, or machine-learning space
  • Excellent organizational and operational capacity, from strategy to project management
  • A deep understanding of the cloud software business, including product management, pricing, go-to-market, billing and sales
  • Stellar communication skills across all mediums
  • An independent, entrepreneurial mindset
  • Comfort operating amid the uncertainty and ambiguity of and early-stage startup
  • Ability to wear multiple hats and roll up your sleeves to do the hard work of building a company
  • A passion for our mission and for tackling the climate crisis


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CEO to formulate company strategy
  • Run core company operations, including HR and finance (working with our outsourced accounting firm)
  • Develop systems and processes to help the team execute more quickly and effectively
  • Continuously optimize the dynamics, communication, and alignment of our all-remote team
  • Support business development by researching potential customers, markets, and GTM strategies to help our company grow
  • Help manage our sales pipeline and our customer relationships
  • Coordinate investor relations and board meetings
  • Plan our quarterly offsites, conference presence, and other company events
  • Figure out what else needs to be done and do it!

Earthmover is currently an all-remote company; however, we are moving towards consolidating “pods” of team members in NYC, Seattle, and San Francisco. For this role, we have a preference for people who can spend significant time in NYC where the CEO is based in order to maximize in-person time.

Salary

$110,000 - $170,000 per year
