Description

Earnest Agriculture is an innovative agriculture biotech startup specializing in the development of probiotic consortia to enhance crop yields and promote sustainable agriculture. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Lab Technician to support our Chief Science Officer (CSO) in conducting groundbreaking research to revolutionize the agricultural industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research or assist in the conduct of research, including the isolation of soil and plant-associated bacteria.
  • Conduct plant-based pathogen trials and measure the impacts of biological control organisms on plant performance.
  • Clean, maintain, and prepare supplies and work areas.
  • Keep detailed logs of all work-related activities.
  • Input data into databases.
  • Isolate, identify, and prepare specimens for examination.
  • Monitor and observe experiments, recording production and test data for evaluation by research personnel.
  • Provide technical support and services for scientists and engineers working in fields such as agriculture, environmental science, and resource management.
  • Measure or weigh compounds and solutions for use in testing.
  • Conduct standardized biological, microbiological, or biochemical tests and laboratory analyses to evaluate the quantity or quality of physical or chemical substances in food or other products.
  • This role may require responsibility flexibility, including planting crops, harvesting crops, and picking weeds, as the success of the startup's objectives is critical.


Requirements:

  • Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates with relevant coursework or an associate's degree in a related field (e.g., biology, microbiology, environmental science) are preferred.
  • Basic Laboratory Skills: Some experience or familiarity with laboratory techniques, including aseptic technique and handling laboratory equipment, is beneficial.
  • Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy and precision in conducting experiments and maintaining records is essential.
  • Commitment to Safety: Prioritize safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment within the laboratory and field.
  • Passion for Agriculture: An appreciation for plants and a keen interest in sustainable agriculture practices is a plus.
  • Flexibility: Be willing to participate in various agricultural activities, such as planting, harvesting, and weeding, as the success of the startup's objectives may require.
  • Availability: Full-time or part-time availability during business hours, with a willingness to work an open schedule, if applicable.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry and record-keeping.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are important for collaboration with the research team.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic startup environment, supporting the CSO and contributing to the team's objectives.

Schedule:

  • Part-Time: Flexible Schedule, Minimum 5 hours per day, 15 hours per week.
