We are seeking a detailed-oriented person to join our cabinet manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience or a willingness to learn the process of applying a variety of finishes to custom cabinetry and millwork using spray equipment and hand-finishing techniques.

Department: Production / Finishing

Reports To: Production Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cabinet doors, panels, frames, and other components for finishing.
  • Sand, fill, prime, stain, paint, and apply clear coats or other finishes as required.
  • Operate spray equipment and other finishing tools safely and effectively.
  • Mix and match paints, stains, and finishes according to specifications.
  • Inspect finished surfaces for defects such as runs, drips, uneven coverage, scratches, or color inconsistencies.
  • Perform touch-ups, sanding, and refinishing as needed to meet quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe finishing area.
  • Clean and properly maintain spray guns, hoses, equipment, and other finishing tools.
  • Follow production schedules and complete work within required timeframes.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper handling and storage of paints, solvents, and finishing materials.
  • Communicate with production and quality-control teams to resolve finishing issues.
  • Maintain consistent quality and attention to detail across all projects.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in cabinet finishing, furniture finishing, painting, automotive painting, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with spray finishing equipment strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of paints, stains, primers, clear coats, and other finishing products.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify imperfections.
  • Ability to read and follow product specifications and finishing instructions.
  • Good understanding of proper sanding and surface-preparation techniques.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a production team.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift and move cabinet components and materials as required.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to producing quality work.
  • Willingness to learn company-specific finishing processes and techniques.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with conversion varnish, lacquer, polyurethane, or water-based finishes.
  • Experience achieving consistent color and sheen across multiple cabinet components.
  • Experience with custom color matching and specialty finishes.
  • Familiarity with cabinet construction and wood species.
