Primary Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all electrical installations, modifications, and repairs comply with:
- Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code
- National Electrical Code (NEC) - current edition
- NFPA 70 standards
- Local parish and municipal amendments
- Sign off on electrical installations and certify code compliance
- Maintain current knowledge of Louisiana electrical codes and NEC updates
Technical Leadership & Project Oversight
- Provide technical oversight for all electrical projects exceeding $10,000 in value
- Review and approve electrical designs, plans, and specifications
- Conduct quality assurance inspections on critical installations
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues across commercial, industrial, and residential projects
- Make final decisions on material selections, installation methods, and code interpretations
- Evaluate and approve change orders with electrical implications
- Ensure proper installation of:
- High and medium voltage systems (up to 35kV)
- Low voltage systems (fire alarm, security, telecommunications)
- Commercial lighting and power distribution
- Industrial motor controls and automation
- Emergency power systems (generators, UPS, battery backup)
- Renewable energy systems (solar PV integration)
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and mentor journeyman electricians, and apprentices
- Lead technical training sessions on code updates, new technologies, and safety procedures
- Evaluate candidates for electrical positions
- Foster culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Coordinate scheduling and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects
Safety & Risk Management
- Enforce comprehensive electrical safety program
- Ensure OSHA compliance across all jobsites
- Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions
- Review and approve electrical safety plans for high-risk work
- Maintain company's safety record for bonding and insurance purposes
Required Qualifications
Licensing & Certification
Master Electrician (License-Track):
- Louisiana Master Electrician License (parish/municipal level)
- Minimum 8 years of progressive electrical experience
- Willingness and ability to obtain Louisiana State Electrical Contractor License within 12 months
- Company will sponsor license application and examination costs
Required:
- Valid Louisiana driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass LSLBC background check and financial review
- OSHA 30 certification
- First Aid/CPR certification
Experience & Expertise
- 8+ years of progressive electrical experience with increasing responsibility
- Minimum 5 years in commercial or industrial electrical work
- Extensive knowledge of:
- National Electrical Code (NEC) - all articles
- Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code and amendments
- Electrical theory, calculations, and load analysis
- Three-phase power distribution
- Motor controls and automation systems
- Lighting design and controls
- Emergency power systems
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Arc flash analysis and NFPA 70E
- Experience managing electrical teams and subcontractors
Physical & Practical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 75+ lbs regularly
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders, lifts, scaffolding up to 40 feet)
- Capable of working in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and equipment rooms
- Willing to work occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency calls
- Reliable transportation for travel to job sites across Louisiana
Business & Leadership Competencies
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities
- Ability to read and interpret construction contracts
- Proficient with electrical estimating software
- Professional presentation skills for client meetings
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Certifications & Credentials
- BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
- NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level III or IV)
- Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering
- NFPA 70E Certified Electrical Safety Professional
- Manufacturer certifications (Schneider Electric, Eaton, Siemens, GE, ABB)
Specialized Experience (Optional)
- Data center electrical infrastructure
- Healthcare facility electrical systems
- High voltage distribution (13.8kV, 34.5kV systems)
- Petrochemical facility electrical work (Louisiana Gulf Coast experience)
- Emergency power system design (NFPA 110, NFPA 111)
- Renewable energy integration (solar PV, battery storage)
- Arc flash studies and coordination studies
- Experience with design-build project delivery
Typical Work Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Project Locations:
- 50% work within 75 miles of home base
- 30% regional travel within Louisiana (typically day trips)
- 20% overnight travel (hotel and per diem provided)

- $5,000 licensing achievement bonus upon obtaining LSLBC license
