The Role
As an Ophthalmic Tech, you will assist ophthalmologists in providing high-quality care to patients. Your responsibilities will include performing diagnostic tests, preparing patients for examinations, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the clinic. You will be a key member of the healthcare team, contributing to the overall patient experience.
What You'll Do
- Perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, manual refractions, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories and explaining procedures.
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and minor surgical procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.
- Document patient information and test results in electronic health records.
- Provide education to patients about eye health and post-examination care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an ophthalmic technician or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and equipment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with patients compassionately.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in performing tests and documenting results.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Nice to Have
- Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or equivalent.
