Job Description: Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) Outreach Associate

Type: Part-Time (Hourly), with path to Full-Time

Reports to: GIK Warehouse Manager 

Position Overview

The GIK Outreach Associate is responsible for the lifecycle of all non-cash donations (Gifts-in-Kind) that fuel our programs. From the moment a truck arrives to the moment a neighbor receives a resource, this role ensures every item is handled with dignity, tracked with precision, and managed in full compliance with regulatory standards.

As a vital member of our team, you aren't just moving boxes; you are managing the tools of transformation for the Indianapolis community.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Warehouse Operations

• Loading/Unloading: Safely load and unload trucks and trailers, often involving physical labor and the use of pallet jacks or other warehouse equipment.
• Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and highly organized warehouse environment to ensure efficient distribution.
• Inventory Management: Conduct regular counts, track incoming donations, and monitor "first-in, first-out" distribution flows.

Compliance & Reporting

• Documentation: Accurately record all GIK donations, ensuring every item has a paper trail from donor to recipient.
• Regulatory Standards: Ensure all donations and storage methods meet state and federal compliance guidelines (e.g., health standards for food/hygiene or IRS valuation rules).
• Reporting: Prepare weekly/monthly reports on inventory levels and distribution metrics to support grant writing and donor transparency.

Mission & Culture

• Ambassadorship: Represent the Dream Center Indy with a posture of service when interacting with donors, volunteers, and partners.
• Spiritual Alignment: Operate with a heart for the ministry, treating every donation as a provision to be used for God's glory.
• Integrity: Strictly abide by the Dream Center Code of Conduct and maintain the highest level of ethical stewardship.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and remain on your feet for extended periods.
• Detail-Oriented: A "knack" for numbers and organization; you enjoy seeing a messy space become orderly.
• Tech Literacy: Basic proficiency in Excel or inventory management software for reporting.
• Mission-Fit: A clear passion for the vision of Dream Center Indy and a desire to serve the under-resourced.
• Growth Mindset: Availability and desire to transition into a full-time role as the GIK program expands.
