The Weekend Direct Support Professional (WDSP) is a flexible part-time role centered on providing a high quality of life for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities within a residential ranch setting. Working a schedule from Friday at 4:30pm through Sunday at 5:00pm every other weekend, the WDSP lives on-site for the duration of the shift to offer consistent guidance in all aspects of daily living. This includes performing household routines, supervising medication passes, coordinating grocery shopping, and assisting with meal preparation. The position requires staying overnight in employment-contingent housing—where sleeping arrangements may be in a common area—to ensure residents have the support necessary to build self-esteem and work toward living independently. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a strong driving record, and be comfortable using business software to manage required documentation and assessments.

Job Opportunity: PT Weekend Direct Support Professional (WDSP)


Location: Down Home Ranch (Live-on Ranch during shifts) Position Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Reports To: Residential Manager


Position Summary

The Weekend Direct Support Professional (WDSP) shares the home and lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The WDSP supports the mission of Down Home Ranch by providing guidance and instruction in all aspects of an individual's life to help them reach their full potential and live independently. This role requires a high-level commitment to providing an excellent quality of life for the individuals served.


Schedule & Housing Requirements

  • Shift Duration: Typically consists of supporting individuals in the home from Friday at 4:30pm to Sunday at 5:00pm every other weekend.
  • On-Site Residency: The WDSP must live on the Ranch in employment-contingent housing and stay overnight in the home for the duration of the weekend shift.
  • Sleeping Arrangements: Sleeping arrangements may be in the common area of the home on a rollaway bed.
  • Availability: Must provide monthly availability for at least two weekends by the end of the first business week of the prior month.
  • Policy: No pets or dependents of the WDSP may visit while the employee is on duty.


Essential Functions

  • Residential Support: Implements the goals of the residential program and understands the person-centered planning process.
  • Household Operations: Completes routines such as waking residents, prepping breakfast, ensuring chores are finished , and coordinating grocery shopping and meal preparation.
  • Health & Wellness: Promotes the health of all individuals, including supervising and conducting medication passes.
  • Transportation: Provides transportation for residents and ensures vehicles are kept clean.
  • Financial & Activity Support: Facilitates and assists individuals in paying for activities and events.
  • Documentation: Manages documentation requirements effectively and prepares reports as requested.
  • Empowerment: Provides the support and information necessary for individuals to build self-esteem, assertiveness, and decision-making skills.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Basic Requirements: Must be at least 21 years old with a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Screenings & Driving: Must have an excellent driving record and pass an extensive background investigation, drug and TB screenings.
  • Experience: History of supporting individuals with IDD or other vulnerable populations is preferred.
  • Professional Skills: Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and the ability to reconcile differences.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using business software and maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA statutes.
  • Work Style: Able to complete work with a high degree of autonomy while being a team player who coordinates closely with others.


Salary

$14 - $16 per hour
