MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

FULL TIME; NON EXEMPT


POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is a non-exempt hourly full-time technician position located in 

Maintenance, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager. The Technician completes on and off site maintenance and physical plant projects, including land and assets. The Technician supports the mission of Down Home Ranch by ensuring the maintenance needs of the Ranch are completed accurately and within a reasonable amount of time. The Technician will join with other staff in a high-level commitment to provide an excellent quality of life for the individuals with  

intellectual and developmental disabilities served through Ranch programming.


Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm; schedule and hours will be 

adjusted according to the needs of Down Home Ranch.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•   Implement the goals of Maintenance

•   Complete maintenance requests for all departments and programs; ensure all landscaping, 

buildings, agricultural structures, equipment, and vehicles are properly maintained and safe

Coordinate with volunteers and volunteer groups for assigned physical plant and grounds projects, as assigned

•   Provide and/or coordinate on-site after-hours emergency coverage on a rotating schedule

•   Assess, troubleshoot, and complete repairs to electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing 

systems

•   Demonstrate the ability to work with, teach, mentor, and supervise individuals with 

disabilities during maintenance activities

•   Order, track, and pick up required parts, tools, and supplies

•   Attend staff meetings, cross-functional committees, safety workshops, and required training 

sessions

•   Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

•   Minimum age of 21; valid driver’s license with a clear driving record and ability to pass an 

extensive background investigation.

•   High School diploma or equivalent

•   Demonstrates excellent customer service and communication skills

•   General knowledge and hands-on skill in vehicle, small engine, and facility equipment 

maintenance and repair

•   Experience and comfort with standard computer and business applications (e.g., electronic 

maintenance request software, email, online ordering)

•   Strong team player with the ability to coordinate and work closely with colleagues, 

volunteers, and external contractors

•   Related competency and experience in fields of construction, facility management, land 

management, or basic trade skills

•   Comfortable working closely with individuals with intellectual and developmental 

disabilities or other vulnerable populations in a supportive environment

•   Reads and complies with all policies and procedures in the Down Home Ranch Employee Handbook

•   Able to write and prepare clear documentation, logs, and work order reports as requested

•   Maintain confidentiality under requirements of the HIPAA statutes

•   Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly

•   Capable of stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, bending, and working outdoors in varying 

weather conditions

•   Able to stand and walk for extended periods across uneven ranch terrain

Salary

$16 - $17 per hour
