Description

Essential Functions

Clinical Support:

  • Assist physicians with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Prepare examination rooms, sterilize medical instruments, and ensure proper inventory management of supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment.
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs, medical histories, and other pertinent information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Perform basic medical procedures under the direction of the physician, including venipuncture, EKGs, and specimen collection.
  • Provide patient education on medication instructions, follow-up care, and wellness strategies as directed by physician.


Front Desk Duties:

  • Manage patient appointments, scheduling procedures, and follow-up visits using electronic health records (EHR) scheduling software.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, obtain pre-authorizations, and process insurance claims accurately.
  • Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience at both locations.
  • Answer phone calls promptly, address patient inquiries, and relay messages to physicians as needed.
  • Handle patient registration, including demographic data entry and updating patient records in electronic health records (EHR).


Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain organized patient files and electronic health records (EHR), ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as billing, coding, and record-keeping to support practice operations.
  • Collaborate with office staff and physicians to optimize patient flow and ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to uphold patient safety and compliance standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to have compassion, empathy, and dedication to patient well-being.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal, organizational, and documentation abilities to effectively interact with various departments and individuals.
  • Proficiency in using office productivity software and electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to solve problems timely and ensure prompt resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a growing and changing environment, and skilled at multi-tasking.


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
  • Certified or registered medical assistant (CMA/RMA) designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in family medicine or pediatrics required.
  • At least 1 year of IV hydration experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of medical receptionist experience preferred
  • Proficiency in eClinicalWorks (ECW) software preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.


Physical and Mental Requirements:

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or listen.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms to assist patients and/or clinic staff.
  • Occasionally assists with moving wheelchair bound patients, clinical equipment, and office supplies up to 35 pounds.
