Description

Essential Functions

Patient Care and Clinical Tasks:

  • Obtain and record vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, etc.).
  • Administer medications and injections, including IVs as ordered by physicians.
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, and other nursing procedures.
  • Assist with minor medical procedures and exams.

Patient Communication and Education:

  • Educate patients about medication regimens, chronic disease management, and health maintenance as directed by physicians.
  • Provide instructions for follow-up care, screenings, or referrals.
  • Answer patient questions and address concerns with compassion and clarity.

Clinical Documentation:

  • Accurately document patient information, encounters, and treatments in the EHR system.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date patient records for provider review.

Coordination of Care:

  • Collaborate with physicians and other staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Communicate with pharmacies, labs, and referral sources as needed.
  • Assist in the referral process and follow up with patients regarding appointments.

Operational Support:

  • Monitor and manage medical supplies and medications, ensuring inventory is adequately stocked.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment.
  • Follow infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Flexibility to assist with front desk operations or scheduling if needed.
  • Willingness to support the dynamic needs of a growing practice, including completing duties beyond those listed in the job description when requested by clinic leadership.

Patient Flow Management:

  • Assist in triaging patient concerns and forwarding urgent matters to the appropriate provider.
  • Ensure smooth patient flow by preparing patients promptly and coordinating with other staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to have compassion, empathy, and dedication to patient well-being.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal, organizational, and documentation abilities to effectively interact with various departments and individuals.
  • Strong knowledge of medical procedures, nursing techniques, and medications relevant to primary care.
  • Willingness to assist with both clinical and administrative tasks when needed.
  • Proficiency in using office productivity software and electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to solve problems timely and ensure prompt resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a growing and changing environment, and skilled at multi-tasking.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Current and active LPN license in the state of NC.
  • Previous experience in primary care, outpatient, or family medicine setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Clinical Works (ECW) software preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years administering medications and injections, including IVs as ordered by physicians required.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or listen.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms to assist patients and/or clinic staff.
  • Occasionally assists with moving wheelchair bound patients, clinical equipment, and office supplies up to 35 pounds.

Salary

$24.04 - $27.4 per hour
