About Doggie Salon & Spa

Doggie Salon & Spa is dedicated to providing the very best grooming to the Dogs and their owners in the San Luis Obispo area.

Description

Doggie Salon & Spa is hiring a front desk lead to run the client experience at our growing, membership-based grooming salon in SLO. This isn't a sit-and-answer-phones role — you'll own the schedule, drive rebooking, sell memberships, and be the reason clients keep coming back.

$19–$20/hr base + up to $900/mo in performance bonuses. Clear growth path into social media and marketing ownership.

WHAT YOU'LL DO EVERY DAY

• Run the booking calendar, fill gaps, manage the waitlist, rebook every client at checkout

• Greet every client and dog by name within seconds of walking in

• Recommend add-on services based on each dog's breed, coat, and history

• Sell and retain memberships: explain the value, handle objections, save cancellations

• Process payments accurately, reconcile POS daily, maintain clean tip logs

• Respond to all client messages within 15 minutes during business hours

• Ask happy clients for Google reviews: help maintain our 4.8+ star rating

WHERE THIS ROLE GOES

Months 1–6: Master the front desk, hit your KPIs, become the person clients and the team rely on.

Months 6–12: Take over social media content — before-and-after posts, client spotlights, seasonal promos. Creative freedom + results-based stipend.

12+ months: Own the full local marketing strategy — campaigns, referrals, community partnerships, email marketing. Title and comp expand to match.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 2+ years in a front desk, reception, or client-facing role (vet office, dental, hotel, salon, medical, retail management)

• Comfortable with booking software, POS systems, and digital client communication

• You can sell without being salesy — you recommend because you know the dog needs it

• You track your own numbers — you manage toward a goal, not just a shift

• Strong written communication — professional, warm, zero typos

• You love dogs. For real. You learn their names before their owners'.

WHAT WE OFFER

• $19–$20/hr base pay, full-time (40 hrs/wk)

• Performance bonuses up to $900/month (fill rate + add-on attach + Google reviews)

• Clear pay progression: FD I → FD II → FD III with defined milestones and raises

• Structured 30/60/90 day onboarding — you'll know exactly what's expected

• PTO accrual, team bonuses, profit-share eligibility after 6 months

BONUS POINTS

• Experience in pet care or veterinary setting

• Familiarity with membership/subscription sales

• Social media content creation experience

• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
