Description

As a Tax Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in our growing firm by managing tax engagements from planning through final delivery while ensuring the highest level of client service. You will review complex individual, business, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns, provide technical guidance to staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients on tax planning and compliance matters. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to developing team members while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously while meeting firm deadlines and budgets.
  • Review complex individual (Form 1040), partnership (Form 1065), S corporation (Form 1120-S), C corporation (Form 1120), fiduciary (Form 1041), nonprofit (Form 990), and state tax returns.
  • Conduct tax planning and research for individuals and closely held businesses.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and advisory services.
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and provide strategic recommendations to clients.
  • Train, mentor, and develop Tax Seniors and Tax Associates through coaching and technical review.
  • Review staff workpapers and provide constructive feedback to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Assist with workflow management, staff scheduling, and project prioritization during tax season.
  • Participate in firm process improvements and technology initiatives to increase efficiency.
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities to expand existing client relationships and participating in networking activities.
  • Stay current on tax legislation and communicate relevant changes to the team and clients.

Qualifications

  • CPA license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's in Taxation preferred).
  • 5–8+ years of public accounting tax experience.
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring professional staff.
  • Strong technical knowledge of individual and business taxation.
  • Experience reviewing complex tax returns and researching tax issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency with modern tax software, Microsoft Office, and cloud-based accounting platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
