The Post Production Manager will manage project details, schedules, and deadlines of all post projects, and work with editors to ensure film cuts are up to standard for the Post Supervisor’s review.


Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Working under the leadership of the post-production supervisor and reporting to him for all work, scheduling, and deliverables.
  • Acting as direct supervisor for editors and assistant editors, including overseeing their day-to-day workloads and schedules.
  • Liaising between potential clients and Distant Moon’s editorial team to communicate accurate details associated with post production budgets and timelines.
  • Communicating with clients to instill trust and maintain Distant Moon’s dedication to each project by providing status updates, requesting follow up/notes from clients to meet deadlines, and managing back-and-forth during the revision process to ensure all notes are addressed appropriately.
  • Performing quality control reviews on edits to meet the standard for directorial review.
  • Using a platform like Teamwork to manage project timelines, including major milestones, production schedules, editorial schedules, and the timely execution of agreed-upon deliverables. 
  • Maintaining media management of all Distant Moon video assets, including organizing, syncing, labeling, categorizing, and archiving footage within premiere projects and our video server.
  • Ensuring the digital security of all video assets.
  • Keeping accurate records of licensed footage, receipts, and paperwork associated with post-production assets.
  • Leading when applicable in editing together assembly cuts, messaging cuts, rough cuts, and final cuts of edits.
  • Potentially traveling periodically for on-set/on-location production, either locally or on travel jobs at Distant Moon’s expense.

Candidate Requirements

  • 5 years combined experience in project management and film production/editing. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects at once, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead a team.
  • Astute attention to detail.
  • Portfolio link that showcases films edited/managed.
  • Motivated and self-directed.
  • Strong commitment to excellence, creativity, collaboration, integrity, and a lead-by-example work ethic.
  • Able to self-examine and revise work before submitting for review.
  • Welcomes constructive criticism and enjoys learning new ways to sharpen and hone skills.
  • Must be able to deliver high-quality products within a defined production schedule.

Additional Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Interest in long-form narrative content and being part of a growing film studio.
  • Editorial and Production generalist who can fill in as needed.
  • Project Management software experience, namely Teamwork
