Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, energetic, and creative School Age Teacher to lead our summer program for school-age children. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and implementing fun, educational, and memorable activities that engage children, promote social growth, and encourage exploration. You will provide a safe and nurturing environment while also organizing exciting field trips, outdoor activities, and hands-on learning experiences. Your ability to plan, lead, and transport children to various activities will be key to creating a positive and enriching summer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and Organize Activities: Develop and implement a variety of engaging and age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, outdoor sports, STEM projects, group challenges, and themed weeks. Ensure activities are fun, educational, and memorable for the children.
• Field Trips and Outings: Plan and execute exciting field trips, excursions, and off-site activities that complement the summer program. Ensure the safety and supervision of children during transportation and activities.
• Engage and Supervise Children: Actively engage children throughout the day by leading activities, encouraging participation, and fostering teamwork and cooperation. Maintain a positive, energetic environment that keeps children motivated and excited to learn and play.
• Safety and Well-Being: Maintain constant supervision of children to ensure their safety at all times, both indoors and outdoors. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines during activities and transport.
• Behavior Management: Use positive guidance techniques to manage behavior, promote respect and responsibility, and help children resolve conflicts in a healthy and constructive manner.
• Parental Communication: Maintain open and positive communication with parents, providing updates on their child's experiences, achievements, and any concerns that may arise.
• Team Collaboration: Work with other staff members to ensure smooth transitions between activities, share ideas for engaging children, and maintain consistency across the program.
• Provide Enrichment Opportunities: Encourage children to explore new interests, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships through structured activities and free play.
• Maintain Program Materials: Ensure that materials and supplies are prepared and organized for each activity. Regularly inventory and request any additional supplies needed.
• Professionalism and Development: Participate in team meetings, staff training, and any relevant professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practices.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with school-age children (ages 5-12) in a summer program, camp, or educational setting.
• Ability to plan and execute creative, engaging, and educational activities.
• Comfortable leading groups of children and engaging them in both structured and free activities.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to transport children to off-site locations (may require background check for driving).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect with both children and parents.
• High energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude that motivates children.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to maintain a positive, caring, and respectful attitude in a classroom environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to participate in physical activities such as playing games, running, swimming, and outdoor activities.
• Ability to lift and carry children (up to 40 pounds) and assist with their mobility during field trips or group activities.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, as well as kneel or crouch when necessary.
