Job Overview:

We are seeking a flexible, reliable, and energetic Float Teacher to join our team. As a Float Teacher, you will provide support across various classrooms as needed, helping to maintain a smooth and effective learning environment throughout the facility. Your role will involve stepping in to assist different age groups, managing the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher, and ensuring the well-being, safety, and development of the children in your care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Coverage: Provide temporary assistance in classrooms across different age groups (infant, toddler, preschool), stepping in when teachers are absent or need additional support.
  • Support Teachers: Help classroom teachers with daily activities, routines, and transitions. Support children with their learning and social development during group activities and playtime.
  • Assist with Lesson Plans: Follow and assist with the implementation of lesson plans and activities that align with each classroom’s curriculum, ensuring continuity in the learning experience.
  • Maintain Classroom Safety and Hygiene: Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines. Assist with cleaning, sanitizing, and ensuring classroom materials are properly stored.
  • Monitor and Support Children: Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, mealtimes, and naps, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Behavior Management: Help manage and guide children’s behavior by reinforcing positive interactions and teaching appropriate social skills.
  • Communicate with Parents: If needed, assist in communicating important updates and information to parents about their child’s day, behavior, or activities.
  • Collaborate with Team: Work closely with other teachers and staff to ensure the day runs smoothly. Be flexible and ready to step into any role that may arise throughout the day.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training and staff meetings to stay informed about best practices in early childhood education and to enhance your skills.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree or certification in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is highly preferred.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to different age groups and teaching styles.
  • Strong understanding of child development and the ability to manage and engage children in various classroom settings.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Patience, creativity, and the ability to remain calm in different situations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to maintain a positive, caring, and respectful attitude in a classroom environment.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry children (up to 50 pounds) and engage in physical activities such as sitting on the floor, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to participate in outdoor activities and move between classrooms quickly.


Salary

$12 - $16 per hour
